I hope the sad face means non-approval, cause those things look like they fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. Then the ugly trash truck came and ran over them inplanting their disgusting design into the pavement. oh. yea, then my 8 drove over and burned it on the back of his head. wow...that is a bit graphic....even for me... haha. but my point is, dem bitches is uglyl!

while we are on the subject, i just got my 8 about a month ago to replace my 92 Jimmy. I would be keeping it if i didn't need the money, but for now my 8 is going to be my DD. But the only problem is I can't help but feel slightly guilty using it that way - as if im ruining it or something, perhaps its just the glow of "new car" but the idea of the CT winters and sand upsets me a bit.

Oh well, driving is just so much fun.

i can always count on you guys to put things in perspective I think just seeing a really nice fd on the road a few weeks ago made me think twice about things.... I think what im going to do is sell the winters (and possibly the motorcycle) put that money towards some sort of awd for winter that is also capable of pulling, and store the 8... I just cant stand the thought of salt and sand ruining its body.

The other thing is even a good fd is still 16 years old, i just cant picture it having the same new car feel as an rx8 (again without throwing a ton of money at it)...

I think you are making a wise decision. From all the ppl that I have met that have sold/lost their 8, they have always regreted it. just as my signature says, its like cocaine my friend!

Intelliprice for a 06 Shinka with 7k miles $10,000-$13,500. Don't even consider trading in on anything. My $0.02 worth.

minus the turbo the 8 is a better car than the rx7 isnt it? I asked the difference a while back on the forum and someone said "add a turbo and you'll be leaving most rx7s in the dust". Makes sense since with twin turbos they only make like 280 horses. thats definitely not out of reach for an 8. But man those fd's are the sexiest ******* cars ever made man

But it's really easy to make crazy power on one of the older rotaries, not as easy with an rx-8

I am going to assume that you mean something in the range of 700rwhp as "crazy power." How much money do you think went into a peripherial ported motor that can do that? Lets say for more than 500 miles?

I am also going to assume that you are suggesting that 400rwhp is something to scoff at. I mean, an M5 will put down those numbers BEFORE you push the 500hp button. Of course, if you are talking M5, you are talking real coin.

I think it is becoming apparent that it is "pretty easy" to make power on the renesis. And they hold up pretty well when done right.

If the idea is to sell the Rx8 and be able to get both an FD and SUV with the proceeds, you would probably end up unhappy. While you can buy an FD for as little as $5000, it will be in terrible condition and you won't be happy. Even in this terrible market $15,000 gets a nice FD, $13,000 could be good mechanically but "tired", and $17,000+ buys a really nice one with the best of the best over $20,000 still.

Ya I think the renesis seems to hold up damn well to fairly large power gains (virtually doubling the cars wheel horsepower in some cases). I'm talkin daily driver reliability wise.

I think what I may do down the road is put a turbo on it, but keep a relatively safe tune so I can still count on it as a daily driver.
