Visited my dealer today just to confirm my car made it to port. Turns out somebody came to visit the dealership yesterday, knew they had a yellow RX-8 coming in real soon and expressed interest in acquiring it. My saleman said the guy seemed to think he could just walk in and take it off their hands, including a test-drive first.

ISSUE: the only yellow one coming in is my pre-order!

Not wanting to be paranoid or anything, but I've got to admit I'm feeling very protective right now and not too pleased that somebody decided to try and ****** my car. Brings bidding war horrors to mind.

That's pretty crappy for someone to do. If it's anyone on here, shame on you! Sounds like you have a nice dealer though- hopefully greed won't get the better of him.

Yeah, we've got an understanding that I won't challenge his "desert protection package" (read dealer markup justified by wax, scotch guard, and 4 year warantee of paint and interior), options that we're adding are at dealer cost, and that otherwise I'm paying MSRP. I'm pretty happy in comparison to the 10K markup in LA.

I don't mind folks taking a look at the car, possibly even sitting in it if I'm present, but I'll be damned if somebody else is going to test drive it or ****** it.
