Man this car is fun!
So the wifey and I are expecting a new addition! So I bought a car with a back seat a 2004 Audi S4. And at first I was like TORQUE!!!!!! V8 AWD shoves you into the seats even at half throttle. I haven't really been driving the 8 much until today, and boy do I miss driving this car! The driveline is so tight and crisp! Really after driving another car for a while and then going back to the 8 I can for sure say that this car is almost perfect. Personally the only things Mazda missed would be more low end torque and firmer seats (coming from the leather Recaro's in the S4 the seats in the 8 feel like a Laz E Boy!)
Other than that maybe loose the nonfunctional back seats and make the car a little lower, but that is getting picky. I really miss driving the 8!

You'll be hard pressed to find a car that can put a smile on your face as easily as the '8.
I find the backseats to be not only completely functional, but also extremely useful. If Mazda trashed them then the RX-8 wouldn't really have the legacy of being a true 4-seater sports car.

I think if it didnt have the rear doors and seat, Mazda wouldnt have sold half as many. Great chassis, Gearbox and looks, but if it were a two seater only, I think more power would have been the only thing to save it.

That is the absolute only reason I bought it over another 350z.

Both of them said they enjoyed the ride very much, which made me feel good about the functionality of the rear seats.
Their only complaint was the lack of visibility.
