may trade rx8 for 350z, opinions please
Okay so i put my rx8 on craigslist not long ago in hopes for a Z to come my way.
And i think an angel from heaven just contacted me.
But I need your opinion on the deal.
It's a 2003, with 72k miles
List of upgrades: full hks exhaust, strup test pipes, dc headers, fully wrapped, BC racing coilovers, aem short ram, short shifter, stage 3 6- puck clutch, light weight flywheel, lightweight pulleys, kenectic intake plenium, 650cc injectors, HKS hi flow rail and complete tune from dynosty in Louisville.
My car is a 2006 Grand Touring Rx8 with 41k miles. It has an aftermarket body kit, with enkei wheels, aem intake, exotic speed exhaust, fully loaded, leather interior etc.

Yours has really low miles man :-) It appears that your car is more for show than a track queen like a lot of others so from a practical viewpoint and the fact that you want a Z car I would say go for it. His car looks pretty damn clean. Just know that you'll have no backseat now and a small boot. It will also feel like driving a suburban compared to the 8 :-( I've driven both and the Z just feels noisy and sloppy. I won't deny that they are good looking cars though ;-)

If the trade was for a 370, then I would say go for it.
Your cars has a LOT less miles on the clock.
If you think early RX-8s had issues, look around for info on the 350s. You'll probably be quickly disappointed. Oil issues are on top of the list.
And the ride is not even close. Very rough, the car feels heavy. Visibility is really bad as well.
The 350 feels more powerful going on a straight line. But that's about it with that car.

Keep your 8.
Might as well get 370, 350's handling is terrible...
You'll need certain skill+modification to keep up with stock 8 on the corners.
If you like straight line, might as well get muscle car...

I am not saying this because I am biased towards the 8, I would not go with the Z.
Nissan is by far my 2nd favorite car company, I almost considered purchasing a 350z after I sold my first 8. I've driven one, the exhaust sounds like a cow mooing, but I've gotten used to it and eventually grew to like it. The 350z's interior is so tacky and cheap, everything seems out of place and poor quality. The steering response is heavy, unresponsive and feels like you're driving an SUV. It does have more torque and you can gain a lot of power easier than a rotary, but do not think that engine is more reliable, they have tons of issues, especially the '03.
Never buy a modded car, usually that means it was beat on, something's wrong with it and they're trying to get rid of it before dumping more money into it. I'd keep the 8.

^true story, you see a lot of Z's around nowadays 350 as well as 370.
If I were going to go for a Z I wouldn't settle for anything less than a 370z nismo pkg. Everything else is just to common for my taste. Just my opinion.
Also, how could you live without your exoticspeed exhaust??
