I hate the "autofication" of cars. People want auto everything. Headlights (hate em), wipers (hate em), etc. The only auto function I like is the auto down window (hey, that's auto climate control ). Laziness, pure laziness.

Now if there was an auto "find a decent song on the radio"feature, that might be ok.

The A/C in the 8 is good for 'keeping' the car cold, but not 'getting' the car cold. Meaning if I put it on coming out of my garage it will maintain a decent temp... but if I put it on after the car was parked out in the sun it doesnt stand a chance of cooling off the interior before I get out of the car again. The weak A/C is my biggest gripe with the RX8.
Auto seats would be sweet, I hate readjusting every time I take my car to the wash or get it vallet.

Besides that my wishlist item for the car is adjustable pedals, and automatic tilt up/down steering wheel when you get in/out of the car. They put that feature in the base packaged Millenia for christs sake... you'd think we'd get it too!

Other than thoes 'little things' the car is a freakin dream.
Congrats man, welcome to the club! Now start MODING!

I'm with you, I want to make the decisions and not have some fuzzy logic do it for me. Also the more you automate the more there is to go wrong, KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid.

PS 38 please wait till you pass the 40 mark, I find that age dose make you a little more responsible a drive.....kinda takes the fun out of things.

Are most people who complain about the AC driving '04's?

Mine is an '05 with an '04 build date, and the A/C is very good. I'm always the first person to pop a sweat in any room, and I have zero complaints with the air conditioning in my car. It does need to be on max cool (or one click clockwise from there) and "3" is the best fan speed except for the initial cool-down, but it DOES have the capacity to keep me cool in humid 90deg weather.

SoFl_RX8... You say your A/C won't cool down a hot car. Are you opening your windows for the first li'l bit of driving to exhaust the hot interior air out of the car? If not, you should do that. Again, mine is perfectly capable of cooling down my car after it's been sitting in a parking lot baking in the sun, and I actually have to turn it down by the time I get to where I'm going (most of my trips are around 5mins, sometimes 10).

I bought an RX-8 as a sports car with the inherent tradeoff of comfort for performance. Too many automatic gadgets add weight, and spoil the balance and performance. A minimal a/c belongs in the RX-8. Had I wanted a comfortable car, I'd purchased a Camry or Lexus. Since I'm getting old (54) my next car will be a sporty comfort car not an RX-8.

RE: cooling down a hot car. During heat waves I keep a can of automobile interior cooler. I don't remember the brand name but it's an alcohol based aerosol can. Spraying the interior car volume just before sitting down with alcohol rapidly cools down the interior on hot days.

Yeah, I really miss the climate controls and the memory seats on my Passat right up until the point that I turn the key. Then mysteriously I forget about them.
