question, Do you people got the DVD with the 8 when you guys got it new? I did and I was looking at it and it has a procedure on how to de-flood the engine. Does this method works? If not I guess if I have to do it, do it the FD way. removed spark plugs, unplug fuel pump relay and crank.

Yeah mid march for a starter if BS. You should tell them if you find it for them they will get it. I bet you can find one pretty fast. another thing I would do is report them to the BBB and tell the dealer. I had a 00 Celica GTS new. One day my wife was driving it and she put it on the wrong gear when up shifting. Went from 4th to 1st instead of 5ht and fucked a couple of valves. Back then this was a common problem for this cars BTW. Well the dealer jerked me around not being able to do a loaner or a rental blah, blah. I went to my legal department about it and the first thing they told me was that by law they have to give me a car, either a rental or a loaner. Went to the dealer with this info, they give me $30 just like you, for a rental. I was under 25 so finding a rental under $30 a day is imposible in Puerto Rico. So there went the second BS flag so I told them that I was going to report them to the BBB and to return my car as a lemon. Oh BTW the car has been in the dealer for 4 month already. After the 5th month and no light at the end of the tunnel because they didn't know when they where getting the parts, I went back to my legal department and they told me to tell the dealer to pay me for the 5 month of the car payment or I was going to sue them. As soon as I told the dealer that, man did parts happen to just arrive and the car be ready in 2 days. They still pay for 4 month of the car payments though and I was able to return the car as lemon because it did the same thing and some other parts of the car started to crap out on me. I had the car under my name for 8 month, it was at the dealer for a total of 6 months.

Unfortunately, BS time estimates from tow-truck companies are common, as is being dispatched the wrong type of tow truck. Call Mazda North America and complain. Give them exact dates and times as well as the names of the people you dealt with. Starters are easy to install... maybe they can help your dealer locate one so that you don't have to wait so long. They also might cover the extra rental cost.

$45k?! Why the hell would someone pay so much for an RX8? I got my 6-speed for less than $25k two years ago... in any case, good luck!

The Mazda service experience seems to vary greatly by region and dealership. The tow services are all suncontracted out, so they don't care about you or your car that much (unfortunately).

I've had positive experiences with mazda service, but I live in the western suburbs of Philadelphia and my dealership isn't too far away. A friend who lives in Philly and uses a dealership there, has headaches.

The Celica's shift linkage was desing poorly in the first production years. It was common for this to happenon first 2 yeas of the Celicas.

yah. but, unless it's a warranty repair or something similar, ANY service visit to one of those dealers is a minimum $100 each pop. the best strategy is to go there while the car is under the 3 or 4 year free maintenance period only. and, then after that finding a reputable 3rd party garage for future service. by then, your car will no longer be spanking new. and, u'll be able to live with not getting free donuts & a car wash each visit and instead more money in ur wallet at the end of each visit.

This is pretty much why I do think it's worth going for an Infiniti, Lexus, BMW, or Mercedes. Stories about bad service from those dealerships are few and inbetween compared to stories of people getting incredible service. On the other hand, stories of Mazda dealers providing horrible service far outnumber stories of people being happy with Mazda service.

It's all about the dealerships though. If I were you I would complain to Mazda North America. They need to make a change. The main reason I'm considering not keeping my car is Mazda service. Other than that I love my car.

i posted the price of the car earlier, it was 36,300 plus 3000 on extended warranty, plus the apperance kit, plus tax lol. either way i did payed too much. but i just wanted the car and i was makin good money so i said F*** it.

i got my car back yesterday, and the guy at the service center in NJ which was 1.9 million times better than the dealer i got the car from, told me that the starter was a part that was bad form the start in all the early models and thats why there were so backed up, and that the dealer was supposed to change it.

this is the part where i get mad cause everytime i deal with mazda i get pissed off and want to throw the car down a cliff, but the second i get the car back and sit inside and run that engine, its a reset switch. i forget everything .
my car is so smooth now that all i have to do to start the engine is show her the Key. and it sounds like a different car, it feels like a monster got in it. stronger, faster, and the best one of all, i turn faces everwhere i go.
i REALLY LOVE THIS CAR! and im sure some of you know what im saying, specially the guys that got the MT. its a dream to drive this car...

W/E i just wanna say i got my baby back home and I am SUPer happy.

Okae, daym, that was one freaking roller coaster ride right there. I feel you though, having a MT rx8 is like a dream car. Well, still complain to mazda, at the dealership i go to, they got that mazda magazine that says the top 10 best service dept.'s in america and stuff, but yeah, complain, you might make it on that magazine (its like a company magazine sent to all mazda dealerships i believe). But i'm happy that you got your car back, and im happy that you're happy. haha. but daym, send everything on this thread to mazda north america and that should make a difference. stay happy and in my opinion, getting the 8 back was worth that bs you went through. sort of like the bs of having a relationship, a lot of freaking bad **** then after that, good ****, usually sex comes out of it and in this case, drving your 8.
