Mazda Approves Synthetic Oil

hey guys, well todae i was at the browning mazda dealership in socal. Looking around their service department, i saw a advertisement for "elf synthetic oil". it was confusing at first cuz i have read many threads about mazda recommending to use mineral oil and not synthetic. but i guess now they are approving us to use "elf synthetic oil". so i asked one of the service managers and they said they only approve ELF SYNTHETIC OIL. i asked them how much it was, ITS SO DAMN EXPENSIVE. $65 for oil and service at the dealership. juss wanted to let you guys know taht they actually let some kind of synthetic oil in our 8's

I would never trust the dealer. They are most probably looking to make some money...

I can't say this for sure, but I think that Mazda thinks it is fine for synthetics for use in all its piston engines, just not the rotary.

I wouldn't trust a dealer anyways as the other poster said. It's just advertising.

What 800 number? Is there a Mazda Corporation 800 number that we can call to ask specific questions about our RX8s? If so, I'd love to ask 4 or 5 questions right now. Hate to trust dealers, even though I seem to have a pretty good one here in Mesa Arizona.

No offense, but this thread's title is awfully deceiving. It should say, "My dealership recommends Synthetic in my RX-8"
Yes, if you call MNAO you can ask them specific technical questions about what oil is recommended in the 8. (hint hint, it's dino oil)

Syns shall be punished.....

In Europe they recommend only Mazda brand "Dexelia" oil (made by Elf/Total) for the rotary. Of course, it's 100% synthetic.

Of course Mazda recommend that oil, because its *Dexelia* oil, its not *Synthetic*

I said it before and let me just say it one more time. If Mazda really really has prove that Synthetic engine oil would *kill* engines, then they should have some edvidence somewhere, and they should be able to sue whoever selling *Rotary Safe Synthetic Oil*.

but nothing has happen. Damn gotta love those big company's legal department.
