Mazda dealership told me my warranty is VOID
Lately the display for my clock, ac, and radio has been acting funny when it is hot outside. The display will go crazy and show random numbers and half of the clock will work etc.... I took it into the mazda dealership and they told me that my warranty is voided because I have satellite radio and that I will need a new wiring harness in the car which will cost me $1851.07USD and $56.00 an hour labor and least they would spend on it is 10 hours.... What I dont understand is that how can the satellite radio which was put in a year ago be affecting my display now... I dont know what to do from here but I dont want to be shafted with 2800 dollars in charges... Has anyone else ran into problems like this?

boy will you like what I'm about to say...
Have your dealer call Miliam Mazda in Puyallup, WA....My radio was doing the EXACT same thing - I have video, too...they initially said it's cuz I have audio hooked up via a line-level converter...they did some calling and found the SAME Problem with a car in California, which Mazda replaced the radio under warranty - that car was stock...no aftermarket audio issues. My car is, infact, this very minute at the Mazda dealer getting the thing fixed.
Let me know what i can do to help....

one MORE thing..
When I get in my car, and turn the key, I can tell how jacked up the display will be by the "Mazda RX8" banner which first appears. If things are jacked up, I put the AC on FULL, Interior Air supply, and blowing out the center vents. I Hold a CD cover, or Paper just in front of the vents to allow the cool air to blow over the face of the radio. Usually, after several minutes - just when it seems like nothing is happening, the display will right itself.

I got my car back today - when I get home from work I'll get you a copy of the service repair invoice.
My service manager says, however, get 'your' service manager/tech the video of the bad display, and send it to the guys at the Mazda Technical Service Line; Mazda Tech line has a record of a car doing that, somewhere in California? Death Valley? - and should have my car's problem recorded now, too! The problem is caused by circuits in the radio overheating. Reference number 405738.
Maybe this "Radio Display Problem" could be a sticky thread? I hope more ppl aren't 'infected', however.

BTW, under federal law (Magnussen-Moss Act) your entire warranty couldn't be voided in any event. If an aftermarket mod or customer abuse damaged a part, then a repair to or replacement of that particular part would not be covered under your warranty. But a mfr. can't void your entire warranty because of one mod.

And to add to what Hard 8 stated mention the Magnussen-Moss warranty act and that they will have the burden of proof in the matter. They have to prove (not you) in court that your mod damaged the car.

Hmm dont want to hijack this thread but mazda voided my lighting system because I have the aftermarket HID's and we all know that we get moisture inside the headlight lenses even with the stock xenon/halogen.

my car does the same exact thing. i had some front end damage and after i got my car back from the body shop, the display would be all messed up only on hot days. after it cools a bit it'll be back to normal. well, when they replaced the airbags, they changed all the wiring involved as well. a mazda dealership took care of that so i'm guessing that my warranty is not voided from the body shop workin on it. got to set up an appointment for that and condensation in one of the tail lights.

This happened to me a couple months ago. The screen would look like Predator's arm computer and then eventually wouldnt work all together. My car is stock and my dealer instantly replaced it and I received it back the next day. I never asked the tech why it was doing that, I had jsut assumed something came loose.
