Part of the same service - When they replaced ignition coil, they also replaced the cat. That was the code that came up when my CEL came on. When they indicated that the cat was bad, I was a little worried. I thought that was one of the symptoms of the vacuum failure that Mazda is replacing engines for. When they did a vac test, my car passed though.

I just got it back couple days ago. Still same problem they changed the coils and ran and OMP test compression test P0302 was the fault code it was throwing. I've got another thread out there calling for all the rotary Guru's input but i still haven't heard anything yet.

P0301 Front rotor misfire detected Flash/ON 1 or 2 Misfire ´

P0302 Rear rotor misfire detected Flash/ON 1 or 2 Misfire
I had hesitation before between 6-7 K rpm. CEL was the solenoid valve one not the same as yours.
Try to Go out and Run your car HARD, run it between 6-9K for 15 minutes. In the first few minutes the car still jerks like an idiot. but I kept going it 6-7-6-7-6-8-6-9-6-7 k rpm .....
Thats how I got rid of my problems before ..... I had Complete Fuel cleaner (Prestone) in my tank before I do that. Couple K miles since then no more CEL.
