Mazda NA just called, and they want me to participate in a focus group...

Just as the topic states, I just got off the phone with Mazda, and they are holding a focus group to discuss possible redesigns for the RX8.

Has anyone else been asked to do this? Has anyone done this before?

I'm making the assumption that its mostly a marketing tool for them, but if I can make any positive changes it would be a good thing. I'll make sure to go through everyone's want list from the other threads in here.

I'll post up more info when I get my materials.

I also got that magical call and got excited. Then I participated in the "focus group" and severly disappointed. Their idea of a "focus group" was a web based survey that you couldn't provide any real feedback on. They asked a lot of questions about the car that I didn't yet have enough experience to answer. I am hoping that some follow-up questions come from it later. All in all it took about 10 minutes to answer all the stupid questions.

Thanks for the honest answer.

I'm sure I'll be equally disappointed. I'll share everything as soon as I get my ***** from corporate.

I think only one of those will get addressed with the survey.

how about 100-200lbs lighter. that would def. help with fuel consumption..and acceleration.

if they can do that, max out the renesis' potential, and put an even better suspension and tyres that come stock, we'd be set.

edit: and a better, stronger tranny.

i went to this type of focus group a few months ago by Mazda. the invite said it was to discuss future product/ vehicle features about the RX-8, but that ended up being a TOTAL load of crap.

they are introducing a Mazda lifestyle magazine and wanted to know (1) if it sucked or not and (2) if it sucked how badly it sucked.

it's an easy $100 bucks for 2 hours of yapping and listening to a bunch of other close-minded nerds yap...

so, i say just go and hope there are some hot chicks to look at... LOL

Tell them to sell direct to customers, without a dealership in the middle.
Reimbursement for warranty work that the customer does on their own because the dealerships are totally useless.
