If they thought 5W20 was bad for the engine, they still wouldn't say it "officially", so why ask him.

And barely any manual transmission sourced motors, correct?

Yeah we are just now getting MT going, we did 300+ AT's. Honestly we just rebuild so knowing what you shoudl use for oil and cleaning the eninge out isn't something I should comment on, my opinion is based on visual and my own experience with cleaners. We run the motor 22mins and that all I see of it.

Simpliest solution, its under warranty, take it to a dealer and they have to run a compression test on them if they feel its related to the motor failing and send the motors in with the results for us. Only time they dont run the compression test is when its seized up if the mechanic feels its internal. I have read engine knock on rebuild sheets from dealers. There are about 10 codes listed or symptoms they can check off(rough idle, knocking, low output/lack of power, wont start, vacuum issues, coolant in oil(rotor housing gasket failed), or stalls). I would take it in and let them hear it though, sorry if I got you worried about it.

not to worried about it i drive it everyday about 20 miles to work and the same coming home.now this is gonna sound odd but my engine seems to sound like an old tr6 from way back in the day !nice sound but out of date for my 8!i know it's out of warrenty but i believe the block is under warrenty to 100,000 does that seem about right?that sound is from the old triump sports car.

Problem is, many dealers do everythinb but a compression test first at the owners expense. Sleepy, you gotta train these techs!
