It is way faster then my truck which is good enough for me. The car is by no means super fast. I classify it as quick on the straights and amazingly fast in the twistys. I owned a 2003 wrx for a number of years and this car is not quite the beast off the line it was (Stage 2 kit) but the handling this thing has more then makes up for it. That and the 6 speed!

I have owned my 8 for two months now and could not be more pleased. Sure you have to put a little oil in it, but that is pretty easy.

Get the three cylinder one. It's faster.

I only drive it up to 60 mph. Car is very low to drive over that limit.

I know it is a only a 1.3 liter engine, rotary and 2-3 cylinder but I just want to know if they have good acceleration. I am lloking for STOCK mazda rx8 btw. Easy scale between 1-10. 1 lowest and 10 highest.

They are not the quickest cars and no where near the best for drag (better than Honda's though lol) but they are really fun cars to drive. I used to own one and when I can afford it, I will be getting another one. They handle amazingly, are almost perfect drift cars (50/50 weight distribution and slide abnormally smooth) and I can tell you from experience, that 155 mph top speed is bs, I personally got my old one up to 165 mph at around 7500 RPM and it could have kept going. Would have easily made it to 170 mph if I kept going. That was when it was stock. I later put GREDDY's turbo kit on it and it would keep up with just about Amany car on the road (I've raced and kept up with a GT3, a lambo, and pretty much any other car I raced). I loved that car and regret selling it to this day. Only thing you have to worry about is bad mpg's, they drink oil, and the clutch pedal assembly tends to break a lot (there is a recall on that last one).

Where did you buy the time machine to give this answer? I want one.

Hmn, you woke up a dead thread to proclaim that you were able to breach the upper limit of speed, in stock form no less. Slap on a turbo, and keep up with a Lamborghini?

It's possibly he broke 155 on a downhill with a good tailwind. I hit 161 in my previous 8, but that was on a slight downhill. 155 is pretty much the limit on a flat surface in normal conditions.

I'm doubting the claims of beating those cars unless he had one of the better greddy kit installs. It doesn't sound like it's much more than a normal install though. I had an Audi S4 that was faster than a lot of things on the road, including some cars he mentioned, but there's no way that a typical greddy kitted 8 would have kept up with me. Well, at least not when it was running properly!

I'm not saying I beat those cars, all I said was it kept up, the Lamborghini obviously took off faster initially but I kept up, the gt3 was pretty much even (this was with normal traffic on the freeway where driving skill and planning ahead plays a major role). When I hit 165 mph, it was a long stretch of freeway at higher altitudes (and flat) and I was drafting behind a charger srt8. The reason I didn't keep going was because the charger started pulling away by 160 mph. That car is capable of going faster. I didn't check the date on this, I just came across it and replied. BTW, the turbo kit I put in it was years ago, way before they came out with a carb legal kit and was tuned. At the time, it was the best turbo kit you could get for that car.

He must have gotten the 3 cylinder Rx8, those were notorious for blowing past the posted top speed!
