Mazda Salesperson Full of Crap?

Mazda Salesperson Full of Crap?
I've been looking into getting a 2004 rx-8, so I went to the mazda dealer to see what they had in stock. They have a gorgeous 2004, fully loaded, with 60 000 kms (a little under 40 000 miles).
I test drove it, and asked a few questions; is it up to date on its recalls, and does it still have warranty left on the engine?
I was told that there were no recalls issued on the 2004's, and that if I wanted warranty, I would have to pay extra for it... WTF? Am I on crack? Was all my research wrong? I was under the impression that there were three recalls on the 2004, and that mazda automatically extended the warranty on '04's. Did this only apply to rx8's sold in the states? I'm in Canada..
Thanks

I know it wouldn't have any "normal" warranty left on it. But when I asked about the extended warranty on the engine core, the salesperson looked at me like I was nuts and said that he "would deal with warranty once we got down to talking dollars and cents".
I guess I'm going to a different mazda dealership. Thanks for the fast responses though

Don't take crap from the salesmen. Alot of dealers will try to pull crap to try and get you in finance and out the door. I've had dealers not even give me the price of the car and try to only tell you the monthly payment. The warranty on the engine should go up to 100k(if not modded) and there were a few recalls/reflashes.

What a **** up. That is like that story about an rx8 being labeled at a dealership with a V6, then someone saying it was wrong and he said, yes, we ran out of 4 cylinder signs... and the guy just left. hahaha
For sure listen to dozer, you could get a better deal.

It's so frustrating dealing with salespeople! Especially being a twenty year old girl.
I had one salesperson ask "are you sure you can handle a six cylinder, young lady?"
I had another salesperson tell me "the rx8 is comparable to the mazda 3 in terms of fuel economy"
At least the dealers who gave me that crap weren't mazda dealers.

Take ur business elsewhere.
Find a guy who knows these stuff to go with you. Not saying that you dont know what you're looking for, but for some reason people wanna rip females off more than males, maybe females are an easy prey ?

If it's a mazda dealer, call mazda customer service and rat their *** out. Let them know that you know for certain that recalls were issued on '04's. We can provide links to them if you want. Make sure they are aware you know about the extended engine warranty too.
Although you may not wind up buying a car at that dealership, mazda may help you out/take care of you in other ways. Worth a shot. Car companies are hurting for business right now, so they won't be too happy about a dealership screwing with people. Hurts future business.

I am a finance manager at a dealership and have been in the bussiness over ten years. I'm also an RX-8 owner just like all of you. One thing I have learned over the years is that maybe the dealership does not know thier salesperson is an idiot? But if any of you do want to buy an extended warranty on thier 8 message me. I will get you the right price and a member discount. I offer Ford ESP plan and Millennium plans. Even if you don't get one from me. Please message me before you buy one and I will make sure you don't overpay for coverage.

Salesmen can not be aware of every recall and an extended engine warrenty on certain year models of certain cars.
Just too much info.
Don't worry about it. You already knew what the answer was. Besides they are there to sell cars, they don't know anything about service , recalls, TSBs.
If you want that information you need to ask the service manager.
Plus, if you like that car you put it on the "Work to be performed sheet" which is part of the sales contract but seperate piece of paper.
For example, cracked mirror, put it down on the sheet that it must be replaced. Then dealer either repairs the mirror before or after pick up up vehicle.
Work must be preformed in order for sales contract to be valid.
