at the dealer they asked for $12.57
at RX8strakes its $9 BUT factor in shipping and tax to Cali it brings it up to $14 something

are you guys referring to the 0.44 oz touch up paint?
The dealer I went to want 5.XX just about 6 bucks online. Tustin Mazda is the dealer ship I went to.
I went to buy it at their part shop, they want about a buck more, wouldn't sell it to me at the online price, but still, it was not 8.XX or 12.XX bucks before tax. Have you try other dealership in your area?

What color is your vehicle? I got mine from Don Miller Mazda for I think just under 9 dollars.
They did not work very well though, the sunlight silver touchup paint is just a shade darker than the the vehicle.
I wish I would've just left the scratch alone.

I work at an autobody shop so I do small touchups like this all the time. which means i get free paint too
If you have the right paint code or color it can end up looking pretty good. You'll always see the scratch. but... it wont be as noticeable.
If you have tons of stone chips I'd definitely say its worth it.

Does Mazda still send a free bottle of touch-up to new car buyers several months after purchase? Mine came after about six months - and about a week after I bought a bottle at the dealer just in case. With two on hand, I now expect to never get a chip.

Supposedly people have had the best luck touching up their car with Mazda paint then using the Lanka products http://www.langka.com/chip-scratch-repair-c-21.html to finish it off.

anyways im going to pick up my touch-up paint later today because the closest mazda dealer (Galpin Mazda) just restocked on my color.
anyway, how exactly are you supposed to use the touch-up paint? i mean i know that your supposed to use like a (from others from this forum say works) a syringe or a needle, but in my case my rear bumper has a chip (that has been touched up with a darker color paint, but still leaves a dimple like scar on it, anyway) the size of a green pea. how exactly would i touch that up?
correct me if im wrong, but should i do it in thin layers drying 15 min in between, or just one big drop?

Use a paper match as it gives you more control than the applicator brush and helps lessen the chance of a blob of paint. Build up several layers, again rather than a blob. Time consuming but worthwhile.
I find my black cherry mica Mazda touchup (which original owners got for free a few months after vehicle purchase) to be a good color-match. Of course a chip fill is never going to look like a pristine paint job.

see, i wish the dealer i bought my 8 off knew about this, instead of using a darker blue for my 8

its not really about the price of the touchup paint so much as the quality, right? did your car not come w/ a matching bottle?
