R&D?
Im guessing to see how rx8 are doing, what condition they are in.
Thats what im guessing, they just want to know how the car is after being driven by a customer in whatever conditions you experiance.

It's very normal to get dealer offers to "buy your car". It's just a marketing scam. They want to buy your car, 'er.. I mean trade in your car so you buy another car.. so now they can make money on the used car sales AND the new car sale..
It's a scam, only time it's worth looking into is if you really are interested in selling you car.

I had a dealership in the area call me and try to purchase my car from me three days before I picked it up!!!! They saw it in the local inventory coming in and apparently they wanted it and my dealership told them it was presold and wouldn't do a dealer trade or anything so the dealership ended up asking me about it. The only way I would forgo my car and wait for another special order one would be at a substantial profit which was not going to happen.

They did this to me in my STI actually, but that made more sense because the demand is very high for the STI used. Definitely a scam to get you back in dealership. Remember trade ins = more money for them. You live in NJ, and it makes sense, because that is the car scam job capital of the world. I bought my rx8 in NJ, and I had to sort through all their little games and BS before getting the car I wanted for the price I wanted. Then agsain, PA isn't much different, they are just nicer when they try and rip you off and fool you.
