Mazda warranty on used cars
#3
It's possible, but a 2004 model would only have a warranty if it was bought very, very late; long after even the 2005 models came out.
The warranty was only for 4 years. So if it was originally purchased prior to March 25th, 2005 it would be expired, regardless of the fact that you have less than 50,000 miles. It is also possible, but not likely, that the car was "branded" -- meaning that Mazda cancelled the warranty on it for some reason or another -- usually because the owner severely abused the car. You should always check with the manufacturer before assuming the car has a warranty if that fact is important to you.
You do still have the engine warranty though, as Mazda extended that to 8 years or 100,000 miles. But that is only on the core components of the motor, nothing else.
If you call Mazda Customer Service they can tell you whether your car still has an active manufacturer warranty on it or not.

Have you verified that it's still under warranty?
