What do you need a compass for when you have a Navagation system?

Yes, I miss the compass too.

Definitley a SUPER CHARGER.

The one thing I WANT (and alot of others would too) is the ability to get into the damn PCM and ECU. That is the biggest stepping stone to the turbo/SC working right, and the gas mileage sucking. The fuel maps are WAY to rich and the only solution right now is a piggy back system (i.e EManage)

No Nav in my RX8. Never wanted it -- don't see myself ever getting anything like a Nav actually integrated into a vehicle -- certainly not in a vehicle like the RX8. An SUV or "family truckster" type vehicle, perhaps, like our next utility vehicle to replace our 1997 Explorer. Maybe something like the upcoming Mazda "Crossport" SUV...mmmm.... But I digress.

Besides, for less than half of the cost of the integrated Nav, I can get a handheld with as many features -- that I can take with me when I park the car, or even use in another vehicle.

Personally, I think something as honestly simple as a compass suits the expressive character of the car much better than a Nav system ever will... of course, that's just my interpretation of the RX8...

A factory trained/certified RX8 technician with gas card in the trunk.

...With a backlit release button of course. :p

1. A black headliner, rather than the granny gray one we have now.

2. An oem faceplate that allows for aftermarket stereo head unit.

Sounds like what you really want is a trunk monkey. It's only an option on GM cars, sorry.

I would like a toll-free, call Mazda tech and get a bullshit free explanation of any concerns, issues, or idiosyncracies we notice with our cars.

Yeah, I know. Not gonna happen. They'd have to deal with idiots like me.

I still don't have my DVD, and I have zero (read: 0, as in ZERO) complaints about my 8 other than the cretin hit-and-run driver (loose use of the term "driver") who mashed my fender and put my car into the body shop a few days ago. So, what am I really missing?

Seems like the paint is to soft. I got small rock chips on my hood. My hood seems like a magnet. My other cars have not had this problem.

I agree completely with Chasvhill on this one. The overhead switches are a pain to find in the dark. When you want to turn on the map light, you open the roof instead and vise versa. Otherwise don't change a thing.

So far the only thing that really has been a huge disapointment is the POS Navigation System. Wish I had spent some time with it before purchasing. I have other vehicles with nav systems that are awesome. Mazda gave no consideration to the end user with this product.

A-men Brother! I think that is exactly my term for it "POS NAV" and it doesn't mean POSition.

I've stated earlier that I think (emphasis on IMHO) putting a NAV in this car is at best an afterthought. It doesn't fit the character of the car (again, IMHO).

It wouldn't surprise me if the engineering staff treated it as such (i.e., an afterthought, as opposed to an integrated piece of equipment). I suppose having a "navigation system" on the options list gives the product line a bit more of an "upscale" flair and attraction...
