According to the owner's manual, there's a language choice in the menus. Hard to find it if you don't read the current language.
Maybe someone here who has GPS could work their way to the language choice, then tell Shalim how many clicks/turns/whatever of the controls gets to English?
Shalim - the only way to get your country map is to get a version of the CD that has it. If the CD you already have does not, you're stuck buying one from Mazda. And hoping they cover it.

Get someone with GPS and set it on the home screen.
Do the same with yours.
Just do the same thing the other GPS is doing until you get to the right screen.
Eventually, you'll both get to the proper screen and setting.

Dude, I have the same problem. I'm afraid there is no way to adjust the language. The JDM version RX-8 (imported from Japan) is for the Japanese market only, so the only language that everything will be in will be Japanese. Even the clock is configured to the GPS and til today I cannot work out how to change it from Japanese time.
As for the local map, as what other members are saying, you need to get a CD with the local maps on it. I haven't tried it, as my Rx-8 is a series 2 and every damn thing is linked to the touch screen, so didnt want to mess with it...

I think you're stuck with whatever Mazda puts on their DVD. In the "Interior, audio and electronics" forum here there are a number of threads on updating the maps. The only thing that people have come up with is getting the newer disc. Nobody's even raised the topic of stuffing someone else's maps onto a copy of the disc - which is copy protected anyway.
Maybe you can take your problem to the "Interior..." forum and see if any of the folks who have worked with the GPS and the screen can suggest something.
