MAZDASPEED - please help..
Hi guys - Im relatively new to the forums - to be honest this is I think my first post but since I got my 8 in May last year Ive been on the forum researching almost every day....
2 Questions if you dont mind....
I am looking for a genuin Mazdaspeed intake - I cant find one anywhere and Have a year of powertrain warantee left - its the only one (per my dealer) that wont void warantee.... Any vendors or anyone that is looking to sell please let me know....
Has anyone taken their front grill out ever with out taking off the bumper? I was gonna rotory tool it out cause I have a chrome grill over lay but would make it the straight grill - it would look so much better - only problem is the 4 inches of styrofoam under the top half....
Thanks for looking guys and look forward to being more active in the community - not many 8 Owners in Canada

i used to work at mazda, all you have to do not to void your warranty is put the old intake on before you bring it to the dealer for service on it , the mazdaspeed one is very expensive, They no longer stock them in canada. call all the dealers see if any of them have stock, otherwise you are out of luck.

We have a lot of Canadian owners here. It's just that most are in southern Ontario. One of our moderators, StealthTL, is from Edmonton Alberta. Go to the Canada Regional Forum and say Hi.
I don't know how you project is going to turn out. But, removing the bumper isn't that difficult. There's about 10 small bolts holding it in place and can be removed by a first timer in under 30 min. Don't forget about the bolt, in the fender well that holds the side marker lights in place.
The MS intake can be purchased from a dealer that is MazdaSpeed certified. You can even order it over the Internet from a non-local dealer. Performing a web search will help you find one. Prices will very form one to another. You will have to remove that front bumper to complete the install. The AEM intake is the same thing and you may save a some money if you use that instead.
Good Luck

In the States, we don't have those washers. And, I'm sorry, I forgot you did. So, I don't know how difficult they can be. I've had my bumper off a couple of times. Twice to repair broken fog lamps and once to fit a Racing Beat air duct. It is just as solid as the day I got the car.

As for the bumper removal...the headlight washers is one hose that has to be removed...thats the only difference between Canadian and US cars for bumper removal. If you have a 1/4" bolt to stick in the reservoir side of the hose it will keep the fluid from running out

For the headlamp washers -- all of the plumbing is on the passenger side.
You can easily remove the bumper and swing it out and have plenty of room to work without having to disconnect all that plumbing.

and to make it "worst", you have to take the front impact beam out as well, but its not that hard really, whole process take maybe an hour or 2 for 1st timer. assume you have all the tools. then just put them all back in the reserve order (minus the airbox removal)
(impact beam = the big metal bar that absorbs impact in the front and spread them throughout the body frame. without it the force will go straight into the cabin and you and/or your passengers will turn into bloodly jello sandwich)
