Very fair article. I really enjoyed the nice contrast between both vehicles. I love them both! Hahaha... But, the RX-8 design does appeal to me more... but I still wouldn't mind having a 350Z either!

thanks for sharing this article! i really enjoyed reading it and enjoyed the comments made. Well, both cars are very nice, i love both of them but of coarse, i love the mazdaspeed more. Well, thanks again! And same as the comments above, its a very fain unbiased article. You can really tell that the writer made an effort to be fair.

I don't think this is very acurate. there is not an actual Mazdaspeed RX-8 , just Mazdaspeed add ons. There is a Nismo 350z, which incorporate some engine mods. Now if Mazda release what we want as Mazdaspeed version then let see a comparison. Just Mazda needs to get off their *** and quit being Pussies.

and the car in the article IS a factory Mazdaspeed RX-8, not just a regular RX-8 with bolt-on accessories :o

Right, there are 2 versions of the JDM MSRX8, the first version (the one in the article) is basicaly the typeS version with the MS parts, Everthing from engine internals to suspension, to ecu, to body kit, I think it was 300 units and all came in a color similar to sunlight silver.
Version 2, im not sure on the production numbers, but it has a few more tweaks inside the motor and stuff. But for the most part they are the same, except the color of the ver2 is the strato blue I thing (whatever the name of the color on the xmen car is)
You can buy most of the mazdaspeed parts and add them to any rx8, but not all of them, such as the eccentric shaft with center bearings, the ECU tune on the MS...ect.
If you put all the MS parts you could buy on a RX8 and raced it against a factory RX8, they would be a really really close match, the small things you cant change (at least not cheaply or easily) in the engine arnt so much for power/performace as they are for reliability and longevity in a race enviornment.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The MSRX8 is all about handling, response and control
The NISMO 350z is all about brute force, then handling and control, with a little tweaking to move its power band up a bit for WOT track conditions....
They are already close match in stock from, so the factory tuned versions just take a step up. although still a great (drivers) race for the most part
IMO The RX8 quetly asks the bends in the road to cooperate with a soft voice and a gentle hand, the 350z beats them into submission with a lot of yelling and brute force.
^ The above is my opinion!

Also :
in the article : "The most notable change to the RX-8's 2-rotor Renesis 13B powerplant is a new lightweight carbon-fiber flywheel."
Dont they mean carbon fiber DRIVESHAFT ? and what about the internal mods?

Also another thing, in the article it talks about the 350z making 500hp and competing in the JGTC GT500 class, that is true but that car is FAR from stock. It doesnt even run the same motor, it has the short-stroke 3L version of the v6, not the 3.5L the 350z has, and its twin turbo....anyway..../rant
