The RX-8 Mazdaspeed Version goes on sale from the middle of February at Mazda Anfini and Mazda dealerships throughout Japan.
The new RX-8 Mazdaspeed Version is based on the RX-8 Type S. Mazda has tuned up the engine using it's exclusively designed PCM (Powertrain Control Module) to match the modified intake and exhaust systems of the Mazdaspeed Version, as well as going through balance adjustments around the eccentric shaft in response to the lightweight flywheel. Mazda has also tuned up the suspension and fitted aero parts to further enhance sports driving performance. Those modifications, carried out under Mazda's strict quality control system, provide the RX-8 Mazdaspeed Version with well-balanced performance.
In addition, the RENESIS rotary engine has been further improved to deliver greater aerodynamic performance and even better sports car driving performance. Sharp, stable maneuverability is further enhanced while maintaining ride comfort, and the vehicle's exterior design supervised by the RX-8 chief designer expresses high performance.
The sales volume of the RX-8 Mazdaspeed Version will be limited to 300 units.

Believe it or not, there is a mazda dealer down in Palm Beach, FL that was selling a Mazdaspeed RX-8 as well. It was the normal winning blue color with a mazdaspeed full bodykit, flywheel, suspension, wheels...etc...you know the rest. But it also had custom blue/black two tone leather done by a local leather shop. I don't remember the sticker price, but I do remember it being quite a bit higher than a run of the mill RX-8, at least $5k extra. So some dealers are trying to sell off "mazdaspeed rx-8s" for some extra cash.

Is this the car?
I've seen this car in a couple of different places (magazines, websites) and if I remember correctly, it was a one-off demo car that was just built up with all of the Mazdaspeed add-on parts.
Also, this car is built off of a sport model, as it has cloth seats + a DSC OFF switch. $36 seems a little high, but I imagine if you bought an 05 model with 6k on it today and had the dealership add all the Mazdaspeed parts to it, you'd end up paying close to that.

wow..... this thread is fun to read.....
Lets put all the chips on the table...
NO MAZDASPEED RX8'S WHERE EVER IMPORTED INTO THE UNITED STATES!
YOU CAN ONLY GET ACCESSORIES HERE IN THE UNITED STATES.
But heres the thing, there are only springs, shocks, strut bars, sway bars, interior accents, exterior body kit with spoiler, rims, intake, exhaust and flywheel available in the United States.
In Japan, the real mazdaspeed rx8's are actually the base model rx8 type s with all those plus more, for example, the Mazdaspeed RX8 Ver2 includes fresh air ducts, high preformance spark plugs, mazdaspeed PCM, closer gear ratios with a higher final gear. The reason they use the base model is because for lighter weight. Also, the mazdaspeed 8 has mazdaspeed racing seats, and now they have roll cages, also they have the mazdaspeed defi guages. Oh yeah, forgot to add they JDM mazdaspeed rx8 has a better looking b-pillar than the red one shown below. The "mazdaspeed" words are smaller and just on the bottom of the garnish.

Hey gxyooj,
You paid 36k for a used Rx-8?
I'm sorry to say I think you got ripped off.
If they have a list of after market parts they put on then maybe we can give you an idea by how much.

There is a NR-A version which has a roll cage and race seats. The MS has stock seats, wheels, and no cage. No gauges either. Not everything MS comes on the MS 8. The version I sold 300. Version II sold 180 and had an upgrade to the new adjustable suspension. Stock gears as far as I am aware of.

dude seriouly I hate your uncle because I was going to buy that exact car and he got to the guys house an hour before me. I know a lot about the car because I actually took a ride in the car and the guy who was selling it told me about it. No it is not a Mazda Speed Rx-8 but it has every single available part that mazda speed offers exept any engine mods. When he bought it, North of Detroit the car had a big crack across the windsheild right. Your Uncle almost made me cry when he bought it I wanted it soooooooooooo bad.

oh yea and your uncle is a liar he didn't pay 36k he paid at most $24,000 and he had trouble getting that money. The guy said that he had trouble getting financing so call him out on it. He's trying to make it look like hes loaded. The car was "worth" 36,000 with all of the parts that it had on it but I know he didn't pay that. It actually had $13,000 of ms parts.
