MegaSquirt ECU (Need advice)
A couple of you probally read the article in Import tuner about the megasquirt standalone ecu. I'v decide to try and use it. It will be my first experience with car tunning and I want to try and get it right the first time. Most of the techinical stuff and putting it together I should be fine with because I have 1 year of electronics schooling and I'm A+ certified. But I'm not extactly sure on every thing all need to do for a proper setup on N/A rx-8. I'v read a couple threads on this site, but could'nt find a conclusion. It sound like the stock ecu controls just about every thing including the air conditioning so piggy backing will be difficult. In the thread I read the guy was try to trick the stock ecu into thinking it was still in control. But that was a year old thread and I din't find a conclusion. I wan't to see who has a setup with the megasquirt. I know some one in this site can help me. I need to know what I need to buy to do a proper setup and why. I'm looking foward to doing this cause believe it will be a real jump in my knolage on how the rx-8 function. Plus knowing how to tune your own car should be a required skill. So Please fill free to give me some advice. Thanks for the help ZACK

I was about to refer you to Brillo's thread, but I see you've already found it. Wish I could help more but don't have any experience with Megasquirt. I think a lot of that died off when the Interceptor came to market.

Yeah - a real flash tuner with a good, solid interface is the way to go.
However, I'll believe it when I see it. Not that it can't be done, but the RB thing is a good example of how a ton of engineering can still produce practically no usable result.

I'm staying optimistic since Cobb admitted that they do in fact own a '05 MT RX-8. And also since they put out the call for more for testing. I hoping, if and when, it is released that we can adjust it over to FI applications. I seem to hope for a lot of things that don't happen with this car...
