Mesh Grill.....

I just got my front bumper replaced, and where the fog lights used to be i got a mesh to put there, it looks really good. However the part in the centre as circled in the pic, can i change that out to mesh because in the top right and top left there are holes, i dont know what its for and thats the way they received it at the body shop so i was wondering if i could put mesh there instead of the plastic?

Call me! Meh I might get out to late so here gos;
You dont want to change that front grill. I took mine out and the front was all flimzy. Taking it out will compromise the structure of the front bumper.

There's a hole in the front bumper and a hole in the back bumper, both in the grill area that are used for tow hooks.

You might need to order the grill. I dont know if they sell just the covers.
But the towing co takes them off and like a$$holes they dont put them back on. So ask the towing co to replace them or buy you a new greill. Or ask your car ins co. to do that for you. I did not have mine on my AT. They where missing from my frist crash.
Call Peoples Mazda see how much they are.

I am having this same issue. I just bought a 2005 used certified rx-8. It's missing those two, then i spent money on a carfax just to make sure (i should have done that before I bought it, but didnt bother because I bought it from a mazda dealer and certified). To see the car did have a accident report in 2006. Accident report says, "Vehicle ran off the road Damage reported to: Top of vehicle" to me the car looks just fine, but now I am worried what was the damage to the top!!!

But to help you, tom at parts@partsgroup.com can get you those for 15bucks.

For those that would like to read more on the tie downs it is section 7-24 in the owner's manual.

I thought they were tow hooks as well because of the Mazdaspeed tow hook. The MS tow hook needs a mounting bracket to be installed.

Try the hardware store. Look for rain gutter guard.

tie downs do not have the structural integrity to take the 3000lbs of force needed to tow the rx8. if you try to do it, the bracket the tie down screws into will bend, warp, and shear.

tie downs are used if you put the rx8 on a flatbed and need a hole to "tie down" the rx8.

tow hooks and their mounting hardware are much much much stronger.

Where can you buy the real tow hook and mounting hardware?
