MIAC Questions. Yes I searched.
Hey guys,
Its starting to get hot (85-100) in Cali and Im getting the MIAC sound pry much everyday. I have the K&N V2 and through searching, I knew that this intake would give that knarly sound in the heat. Sure enough, Im getting the noise on hot days (75+ degrees). I use 91 octane and my engine is okay as far as I know. My question is how can I get this sound to go away and what are the negative effects? I know the TBB mod is supposed to help, but Im moving back to Iowa next week and it gets <20 degrees in the winter so Im not sure if I want to do the TBB mod.
Which brings me to my next concern, Im driving 1900 miles from cali to iowa to move. Thats why this awful MIAC sound and slight loss in power during the noise is concerning me, I dont want to be stranded roadside on some abandoned part of highway 80.
Any suggestions about the MIAC noise and suggestions for my long trip would be greatly appreciated.
** For further information, Im in an 04 6 speed with 67K miles on its original engine.
Thanks and sorry for the long post.

NICE!! I like the sound when its smooth, but that flappy MIAC sound is horrendous and it causes a power loss. My car never did that with the stock intake.IDK, I like the sound and look of the carbon fiber but if it keeps HURTING my performance I might go back to stock or go RB

You know mine was actually air in my heater core. The seasonal daily driving built up air in there which makes the "marblez" sound at high rpm directly right behind my glove box.
The remedy is to drive around to heat up the engine. Then park and idle the engine. Open the coolant reservoir (be careful) and then turn on the heater and rev throughout the range.
That should bleed the heater core to get rid of excessive air/bubbles/noisy stuff. Then shut off car... wait a bit for any heated vapor to still rise out of the coolant then cap it as it's cooling down to maintain vacuum.

Last summer my K&N was working fine. I never really got the MIAC sound that you guys mentioned ... maybe my engine & intake is special ? lol
As soon as my car is back on da road (coolant overflow tank is broken), I might change it back to K&N just to **** everyone off .... hahahahaaaaaa I have no problems with it. I dont understand where the hate come from.
oh btw, Yes, NYC is having 100 degrees of heat right now.

I took my K&N out a while ago, not because I'm afraid of the heat; I took it out cuz I never really use my Stock intake box. I want to make my money's worth lol

Hey I have the K&NV2 Intake love it man. The sound you hear might be due to a loss of a Exhaust bolt. Check them out. I'm missing one right now. This weekend my friend Mike is going to fix it for me. I Cant wait
Hope you have a save trip!
