Might have $20,000 towards an RX8..... advice on what to do?
Hi All!
I new to the forum and have not owned a car for about 5 years (live downtown, didn't need one until now having clients outside the transit route).
I find out in 5 days if I my dog wins a $20,000 gift cert towards a used car. Her video http://mydogsgottalent.autohound.ca/...px?VideoID=135 , is in the top 10, and needs to stay there for another 5 days. I have been an RX7 fan since I was a child, and with the price of the RX8's, I can have part of that dream
My Question to everyone is what top 10 things should I be looking for in a used RX8, and what should I be able to get for $20,000. Also what should I put away $ a year for repairs and maintanance, from reading the forum the rotary engine is still as expensive to maintain as ever

I presume you're posting this in every possible forum, to up your view count.
$20K should buy you an 8 in good shape that's not too old. Hold back a few thousand for dog treats...unless your dog is pulling in some extra money with a night job as a janitor somewhere. Then she can kick in to get an even nicer one.
The 8 isn't really expensive to maintain. Oil changes every 3000 miles, like every other car you care about. Spark plugs every 37000, which is more often than lesser cars these days. Air filter, etc., same as any other. No timing belt to worry about, no valves to adjust.
The only overtly expensive item is that it needs premium gas, and mileage isn't that great.

She actually doesn't smell, which is awesome! I had this crazy person stop me in the street and asked if she could pet my dog (having a dog draws crazy people toward you), once she was done petting, she quickly put her hands to her nose and smelled hard (like Mary Katherine Gallagher from SNL), and said "Wow your dog doesn't stink!".
Thanks for the carfax note!

Personally, I would avoid the 04s. Get a manual if at all possible. And if you get an AT, get an 06+ since it had the higher HP engine and sport package. The standard rims on the AT were UGLY 16" rims. The lower the miles the better of course.

Thanks All For the Advise, and the clicks on Molly's Video, she is no longer in the Top Ten, so it doesn't look good for getting the car ;( http://mydogsgottalent.autohound.ca/...px?VideoID=135
