Might be picking up a salvaged rx-8
Hey guys, I might be picking up a salvage 2005 rx-8 with around 50k miles. I know that with salvage title the warranty won't apply, but the owner was telling me about a recall issued for the 2004-2005 that basically says up to 100k miles if the engine goes wrong I can get it replaced regardless of salvage title?
I want to use this car as a commuter car, not sure if I should stick with my original choice which was the honda prelude. Do you think I should be relatively safe buying this car if I have a mechanic check it out first? I have never dealt with a rotary before so I thought I'd get your guys' input

I would say no. I suspect with the current attitude towards honoring the warranty you will be on your own for anything on a salvage car. DO NOT pick it up if you are relying on having any kind of warranty.
You could also call Mazda North America and find out directly if they would honor a warranty claim on a salvage title car. You can look them up on Mazda's website. That will be the way to know definitively.
