AutoArt makes a nice 1/18 scale model for $50. I got mine from diecastfast.com, here's a titanium one for you...

I'm waiting for them to make a black one to match my real car.

Fujimi makes a 1/24th scale kit (kit# ID-105). The interior sucks as it is right hand drive and basic in the extreme. Really not woth the effort. I plan on just paying attention to the exterior and blacking out the windows with a very dark tint. I hope Tamiya does a nice rendition of it.

Try Exoticar, the 1/18 scale is $55 in red, black and Titanium.

I just picked up the velocity red model made by autoart at the local exoticar store here. Well worth the 50 bucks IMO. :D

That is very typical Fujimi, especially for latter kit. I have that kit too.

But then, Fujimi kits are usually use as the basis for modifications. I am still planning on putting in the moon roof using the one from another Fujimi kit (Spoon Civic). There may be a way to make your own left hand drive dash, but I do not think it worths the effort.

I just got my hands on another Fujimi kit over the weekend. That one has metal parts in it for the body kit! Another good addition to my model kit collection.

Finally, the chance for Tamiya to come up with its own RX-8 in the near future is dim. I am not into those kits Tamiya came up with lately. (I do own quite a few of the R32's Tamiya offered in the past).

The AutoArt version is incredibly good. Some of the little things it has:

1. It has the front seat belts attached to the doors like they are supposed to be.

2. The sun visors fold down

3. The steering wheel turns the wheels

4. The engine cover comes off.

5. The exhaust has the flanges and all the components it is supposed to have.

6. The car is carpeted nicely

7. The Lightning Yellow color matches my car almost exactly

8. The rotorary engine makes 238HP on my microdyno! I wanted 247 but 238 is pretty good.

It is a sweet model. I paid $45 for the car at my local dealer and was pleasantly surprised with the excellent quality.

Yeah, I'd really like to see a 1:18 Auto Art in Winning Blue. I have the 1:43 and it's really nice, but why isn't blue available?

I found a great write-up on the Autoart RX-8

I am going to look for them locally this week and try to get one in Titanium, if not, I will order one.

Is Autoart the only maker of the 1/18 scale right now? I figured Maisto would have a less expensive one out by now.

That is a very good write up but he is wrong about one thing. The hood can stay up if you pull it up high enough above the notch. This also allows a much better look inside the engine bay.

Word of caution don't try the same thing with the trunk. It is not designed to go any higher than the stops.

All of the Autoart RX-8's that I have seen have had all black interior. Would have been nice with red/black but it is still very nicely detailed. See my review link above for some nice pics of a Titanium.

I didn't see any in stores so far this week so I will either order one or put it on the Christmas list.

Both of my AutoArt 8's (1/18) had black/red interior with velocity red exterior color! Are you talking about the 1/43 ones?

Here is a link to a red Autoart RX-8 with the rec/black interior. I guess the red one is the only one with the two tone interior. Looks good so unless there is a black with red/black interior, I will probably get the red instead of titanium.

Yes, RenesisPower. Red 1/18 car has two-tone black/red interior. Looks nice. You'll really be amazed at the model. There are some pics on this board somewhere. Have fun!

Bobm, thanks.

I ordered mine through the link someone posted here but it did not have any details on interior color. If it is red/black then I will be pleasantly surprised.
