Mold Garmin Nuvi into stock GPS
Anyone know where I can get the nav dash without the screen, basically just the plastics? I tried out the stock navigation at a dealership and didn't like it's loading times and the fact you control it with buttons instead of touch screen. I have a Garmin Nuvi 200w laying around so I was going to hard wire it into the dash and mold it to fit the OEM nav bezel which shouldn't be all too hard depending on how big the OEM screen is (anyone have exact dimensions?). You can also have it start up with your own screen, so I already have the Mazda logo on there, it's pretty sweet since it somewhat looks OEM as when it starts up that is what you see the Mazda logo then the basic menu. Anyone already attempt this?

1. it's not the easiest thing in the world to find a factory nav hood
2. you'd have to wire it to open and close.. unless you're just going to open it manually
3. If you do it, post pics

yaaa... Idk about this. It is a 7" screen, not sure of EXACT diminsions. But, if i was about to drop at least $300 for the nav hood (and thats assuming you can find a good price, which is hard) I would not put a garmin in there... I'd put something nicer. BUT, it's your car do what you want. But you'll pay much more for the dash piece than the nav itself....
