Mounting location for Aux input jack

Mounting location for Aux input jack
Just bought a 2004 Red RX8 w/ 16,000 miles, my dream car!!
I am getting an Aux Mod tomorrow and will be installing it. To go along with it I bought some panel mount 1/8" jacks and plan to drill a hole somewhere to have one in the dash.
Here are the jacks I bought:

I will be using an Android phone with a car dock that suction mounts and will most likely be front and center on the dash. I couldn't see anywhere to run the cable so that it would come out near this location so I have settled on what I believe to be the next best thing. I will drill a hole through the round shaped piece to the right of the head unit and to the left of the glove box, you can see it in this picture:

I figured this would be alright because if for some reason I wanted to sell it and put back to stock I could hopefully track down a spare one of them for cheap.
I wanted to ask you guys before I did any drilling though, do you know of any better places to mount the audio jack? Keep in mind that I want the cabling to be as clean as possible.
Second question, is there any way to bring the wires up and out through the dash somewhere that would be less conspicuous?
*I will also be running a car charger wire through it as well
Thanks in advance.

Might get better response by posting in "Interior, Electronics ..." section.
Here's another option, starting at about post #5: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ux#post3904431

The faceplate idea looks nice and has more of a "stock" feel to it, but I am gonna have this thing plugged in 24/7 (to the car dock) and would prefer it to be more out of the center of view.
The place I wanted to put it is still kinda in the middle of everything.

Whoa!! Before you go posting an *** load of threads, make sure you search the forum FIRST!! The RX8 has been on the road for a long time. The questions you have, are more than likely answered already...

Guessing by your signature that Google is a better way to search than the built in site search?

Hey there,
This is my first post to the forum, but I really like the location of my AUX input. There is a 3.5mm jack in the back portion of the center armrest (the one where you slide back the armrest and then flip it up). The aux jack cleanly comes out of there and the hookup can't be seen, and I normally keep my iPhone in one of the cup holders.
Not quite sure where exactly where you are planning on putting your android, but this may be a worthwhile option.
I was actually planning on putting in some similar effort for an AUX hookup until my bro visited for the holidays. I didn't know about this 'secret' location in the center armrest until he dug it up the first time he rode in my car. I was ready to waste $500 trying to figure out a setup!
Anyways, hope this was/is helpful to someone (even if it is a reminder to fully search the car before attempting to install an ipod/aux option)!

For right now I need to have the phone visible and dash mounted. I have thought about that location and it does offer a very good option for hiding the phone. I plan on locating my phone in the center at a later time. Ultimate goal is to have a double DIN setup, one plain head unit, one fold out 7" touchscreen. The kicker is that I want to have my phones display mirrored on the 7" screen with touch capability. My phone will output HDMI and charge simultaneously through the same port, audio and video will travel to the touchscreen with audio passing through to the head unit.
Someone is working on it, but I want to wait til there is a more friendly type of install available, preferably an all in one touchscreen with the capability. Here is a link though if anyone thinks this sounds interesting: http://www.customgadz.com/store/prod...?id_product=16
