MPG advice
OK I have fallen in love with the RX-8.
I have put a small deposit on a Titanium Grey model (190 low power).
What sort of MPG can I expect if driving at 70mph and also 90mph on the motorways?
I see some posts about MPG but not sure if you guys/gals have the low power or high power cars.
I do 28,000 miles a year and I will be tied into a lease for two years.
Thanks

good luck to you. We averaged 14mpg (imperial) for the 4 months/6000km we had the car. This is not the car for you if you need to do high mileage and have decent fuel efficiency.
After we traded it we got an Infiniti G35 coupe (Nissan Skyline) which gets 30mpg but was more expensive to buy initially.
Good Luck with your decision!
PS do you own shares in an oil company?

27.70 mpg: personal best, boring
Well, you can review my mpg/maint log for all the gory details.
Turns out my recent entries (April 9 through 11, 2004) cover a little road trip between San Diego, CA and Las Vegas, NV. I ran both directions between 6am and noon, temp ranged 55-81(F). First day I set cruise control at 72mph and for the return trip I set cruise control at 70 mph which resulted in 27.7 mpg.
I can already see I'm back to my normal 15-16 mpg in the city since that weekend trip. So the car is capable of reasonable fuel economy, but it's not what the car's about
Cheers,
-jd.

I drive approx. 23000 miles per year. So far I have a bit over 12500 on my car. I drive mostly highway miles, and my mileage hasn't been too bad (22 mpg average). I fill up every third day.
So far, I'm very happy with the 8 - I figure if I'm going to be in my car for at least two hours a day, I should enjoy that time. However, I must admit, if my mileage was lower, say in the 17-18 mpg range, I'd probably regret the decision to buy the car. At that point, I'd have to fill up every other day and that just wouldn't cut it.
So, what I'm getting at is - the RX-8 can be a great car for people who drive a lot of miles. But it really all depends on what kind of fuel economy you get out of yours. And of course how important fuel economy is to you.

In the the US I have never seen a Guarenteed residual..
It is gaurrenteed reguardless of Millage??? tire condition?? Sheet metal Damage?? Engine Damage??? Just making some examples of things I dont think they can guarentee against, along with the one that kill people in the US like milage and Tires. Most people I know that have leased cars had to end buying them because the residual was so low they would have to pay $5-10k Just to give the car back., vs $10-15 to keep the car.
I have just purchased the CANSCAN for my car and have been logging data at various speeds So I will be able to give you Cruise controled speed data at vaious MPH vs MPG. You want the Data or just the Answer?

Here's my gas mileage experience with my RX-8.
Before L/M Flash
19mpg overall - mostly highway going 70-75mph with some city
22mpg highway - cruise control going 75+mph
After L/M Flash
19mpg overall - mostly highway going 70-75mph with some city
22mpg highway - cruise control going 75+mph
24mpg highway - cruise control going 70mpg, temp 45-50degrees
Gas mileage seems to be totally dependent on driving conditions. I've never had a car so dependent on driving conditions, especially speed. Use cruise control going 65mpg and you'll probably get good gas mileage, although you'll probably get weird stares as the rest of the cars fly by you.
