murphy messed with my 8! need some advice
Hey guys, so I was driving to the mazda stealership to get the extra gallon of coolant I needed to complete my coolant flush and all of a sudden I just hear this clunk clang sound from the underbody, as if the front right tire picked up a heavy rock at made it bang against the underside. I figured it might have just been a piece of ice or something. I pulled up at the dealership and I peeked underneath to find a 15 inch rusted bolt hanging from the underside, right under the front passenger seat. Turns out the tire picked up the bolt and somehow, given the height of the eight, it bounced in a way that made it go through the chassis leaving a 1/4 inch hole in the underside of the car.... talk about bad luck!
anyways, I've been trying to come up with ways to seal up the whole so that water/dirt doesn't go into it. Right now I have a piece of gorilla tape there but that's not a very permanent solution. any ideas? I was thinking of using jb weld

what its stuck in is just a piece of fiber glass cover that protects the chasis. I had a block of wood got shot up by the wheel into the fiber glass layer. you can take it off and glue it together. I used super glue.

Thanks for the replies.
I don't know if getting insurance involved for such a small thing is a good idea. They might send me to a body shop where they will likely do a crappy or overkill job to just cover up a 1/4 inch hole. I'll try and post some pictures tomorrow.
The part where the bolt went into I think is actually the metal. Its covered in that black soft stuf that is used for sound and if your look at the whole it looks like metal.
