My 8 or the 09 Camaro
I know it's still early but I'm needing the time to figure it out. I love my 8 I have had it for 2 years now but I am in love with the new Camaro. My problem is my 8 won't be paid off yet at the time the Camaro comes out next year. What should I do. i just got married, Buying a new house and paying for the 8 right now. If it came down to it what should I do
Keep the 8 ( if funds allow ) or Trade it in on the Camaro

Forget the Camaro, what a junker. Challenger or nothing. If it comes in something close to hugger orange (yes, a camaro color, I know ) I will probably either pass the 8 on, or trade it in. Depending on the ride of course. But I just think thats a car I could love. It totally stole my breath away at the autoshow.

depends on what your priorities are, me personally, if I had to choose between keeping an already cool car and getting a house with my new wife etc. then a new camaro would be pretty far from my thoughts. Ditching the 8 would be a downright retarded financial move in that aspect, I'd hang on to it, pay it off, then either trade/sell it at a more optimum time. Either way, when those cars come out there will be a gigantor premium, you're still bettter off waiting until the 2nd year when people aren't so eager to buy them and maybe even some used ones are starting to turn up etc.

I'd wait til the 8 is paid off, there's no need to put yourself into a financial strain to get a car. Especially if you already have a car you like, just because you THINK you'll like the camaro when it comes out, doesn't mean you're going to enjoy driving it as much as the 8.
Not to mention if you get a camaro, expect your insurance to also increase aswell.
And who is to say you'll even like the car?
And it's the first year model. Would you really want to buy a new car that might end up like being the 8 where the first year models have all the qwerks and kinks?
AND it would be better to wait anyway, I'd wait til the 2nd or 3rd year, they'll have more package options and a better performance package, etc etc.
I'd say no til you get the 8 fully paid off and can absolutely afford the car without it costing you too much more a month than your old car payment and insurance.
Lets not forget how nice it would be to no longer have a car payment. I don't know why once people get a car paid off they feel the need to rush out and buy something new again.

were going to get my wife a camaro when it comes out so we get the best of both worlds
But my advice is the cars isnt out for another 2 years, concentrate on your house, marriage and enjoy the 8 until the camaro is out and then decide if you want it still, your feelings may have changed by then if you want it or not

Well considering no one here has driven either one it's kinda earlier to be calling either "junk".....yet.
I'm considering either Camaro or Challenger but probably won't be buying the first year MY. I'd rather wait to see how the two compare to one another on the street and in person.
Not to mention there's always a few minor glitches in the first model year that would be tweaked later, or possible upgrades in later models. The differences in the 04 and 05 models in the GTO is a good example. After the first model year they boosted the HP up 50 ponies. So for me it's a "wait and see" situation.

You do not want a first year production American built car.
That is sorta like buying the new version of windows the day it comes out. 6 months later they will have fixed the majority of the biggest bugs/flaws.
With GM/Ford cars that would be the first model year... wait until the 2nd year out.

A Camaro Get a Challenger
When I was about 7 years old, far before I had even heard of rotary engine, the Challenger was the car of my dreams.... until my dad bought himself a weekend 1968 Camaro ss (great condition, light metallic blue, perfect tan leather interior) and teased me by saying "son, this will be your car someday."
I never got the Camaro, my dad sold it before we moved to Florida (big mistake, that car would be worth SOOOO much money if he had kept it). My first car was an old 1978 Buick Skylark Landau (already a classic when I got it). No Camaro for me.
If I wasn't already insanely happy with my 8, I'd get the Challenger

Keep the 8, as there will be ridiculous dealer markups on the first year the Camaro is coming out. Unless you can lock in MSRP or you know a dealer, no way will you be able to get the car. So wait for the 2nd or 3rd year & drive the RX8 in the meantime.

I wonder if these new retro-cars will also change the pricing on the older models that are still in good condition, etc.
On an episode of Top Gear one of the hosts tried to buy older models of Camaro and things like that and the dealership wanted as much or more than what you would pay for a brand new car.
So with a new car looking similar to an old car, I wonder what'll happen =/

Also, all we know at this point is how the camaro and challenger are likely to look. We don't really know anything about how they'll drive.

also the camaro will most likely have the ls3 which is a basically new engine there wont be an upgrade for a few years after its released so you are safe to say the camaro will be the same the first 2-3 years its out and the ls engine is proven tried and true there will be no glitches in it. the only thing i would be worried about it markup
