My 8 and her new big sister

Here is a a few pics of the new family. Picked up the CX-7 on tuesday for the wife.
Ride and handling are first rate. The turbo really is smooth with plenty of Zoom Zoom. GT package FWD with moonroof/Bose (sounds beter than Rx-8)
Got to get her broken in before our trip up the California coast later this month.

Nice

The commercials for the CX-7 are actually decent. There's one that actually shows a VR RX-8 in a windows reflection for a second! ONE SECOND!!!!

Very nice, the 8 looks TINY next to that CX7. I've seen a few in real life and I didn't remember them being that big, maybe the same size as a toyota highlander or something like that. Anyways congrats, it should be fun for a suv. I drove a MS6 with a near identical powerplant and it was very impressive.

Yea I saw that one, also the one with the guy hearing a car comming and predicting it was a turbocharged sports car. I like the reflection in the window
one cool for an ad.

I think the size in pic is related to the angle, CX-7 is the size of RX330 Lexus. Our test drive of a MS6 is also why we ordered the CX-7.

Like the CX7, but would not buy one.

I like the CX7, but I would not buy one.

I am looking for a vehicle to replace my Cadillac Catera. Love my RX8, so I thought I'd check out the CX7. It's gotten good reviews with all the magazines I've seen so far.

So we test drove a CX-7 last weekend.
Pros: Ride, handling, quiet, comfortable, nice looking, reasonably priced, nice interior.
Cons: turbo LAG and then extreme throttle.

Might be just the one we drove, but we got to an intersection, and needed to make a left turn across a busy street to get back to the dealership. I had been feeling the lag all along the test drive from every intersection, but... Pressed the accelerator... 1.... 2.... 3.... (barely moving, traffic coming, heart stopping)... THEN we get the big boost of acceleration and squeal across the intersection.

That was enough to turn me off of the CX. Maybe if they come out with a V6 model, or maybe I'll wait to test the CX9... Turbos are nice, but only if they can eliminate the lag problems from a dead stop.

What if the RX8 and CX7 got really toasted one night and had incestial relations? What would the offspring look like?

Congratulations to you. Now, off topic, where did you get the grille for your RX-8? If you would, could you send me a PM and let me know where you got it, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

2500rpm sounds like a nice manufacturers quote.... have you driven it?

In reality, getting to 2500rpm so the turbo kicks in was taking several seconds. I've driven a few turbo vehicles before, and this is the first modern one that was so peaky and slow to react. Like I said, maybe we just drove a bad example. Seems much different.

Sounds a little off; the MS6 isn't very laggy, and it's the same (albeit detuned) motor in the CX-7. Laggy = mid 80s Saab!

Just came back from servicing my car at a Mazda dealer and sat in a CX7. I like it, but its not as impressive as I first expected, maybe since the Murano has been out for a while now.

Biggest pet peeve? Whats with the cheap mouse fur all over the headliner??? Not good for a premium market that the CX is after. And no kids DVD option? Why not a manual?

Otherwise, very nice car/truck, but Mazda will have a hard time selling a direct injection turbo 4 cylinder truck to your typical consumer at that price range....kinda like a rotary to your average Joe...wha?
