My 8 Sounds like a hamster!
today I was driving through my town, joy riding when all of a sudden as I was around 1 to 2 RPM I hear this noise, and it sounds like a hamster! so i let off the gas and I keep testing it,I drive around 1 to 2 RPM and I heard go faster disappears and the weird thing is its squeaks and sounds like a hamster, but once I accelerate more, it goes away and I have no problems!! can anyone help me out with this? this is my first huge problem... Never heard this before, so the search engine didn't give me anything..... I have a gut feeling its my tranny...

How long have you had the AEM Intake on your car? The Intake sometimes makes weird sounds, that I have noticed. If that is what it is then it is probably fine. I actually called AEM and they said becuase of the rotary engine it does make like hamster noises

hey abbid no, i actually don't drive it hard! the only time I drive it hard is when I bring to 6 RPM to get rid of the carbon build up....

i see you got the intake finally dave, hows it sound.
it cant be his throw out bearing, as its an at.
i dont remember where i saw it here, but from my understanding, the high pitched squeek is actually normal, it comes from a temporary lean condition and actually doesnt affect the car, my car does the same at lower rpm when i am gently accelerating.
this was something i came across randomly here on the forum, so i couldnt even tell you where to search

hey Chuck, yeah my friend mike found the filter tube it sounds great, but somethig just doesn't feel right you know... not really for me, I'm going to have to pay a visit to you, order a brand new one after I get my 2nd tax return..... I guess buying a used intake isn't exactly the best way to go.... no offense to people who have done this....
as for everyone else, thanks for the help....

Keep her running, open the hood, take off the big front cover, look at the belts and turn your head to see if a belt is singing - may just need a little adjustment - also check the manual - I think there may be some sort of warning alarm that could be going off - these things have all sorts of built in quirks.

Fastnmean8 - sorry. I've go no useful input on your problem. Just curious if the thread title was serious or not.
