Unhappy My car got broken into

So after having one of the best weekends in a very long time, thanks to the guys at Racer's Edge, I decided to stop at a restaurant on the way home and grab a bite with the family, food was great(mexican) and great service, could not have asked for more. Came out of the restaurant to this:

Broken window, damaged pillar, slashed tire, stolen GPS, why couldn't they have just broken the window and taken the GPS????????????

This suxxxxxxxx, I call 911 and waited 45 min for a cop that never came, called again and was told that it was better for me to just file a report online since the cop won't do **** anyways.
The owner of the restaurant was nice enough to get someone to do a quick fix on the tire so that I could get home since it was getting late. It's hard to see in the pics but there a 3 patches, a small piece of metal and 1 screw on the hole in the tire, why you ask??? because it was the only thing the guy could put there so the air would at least come out slow enough for me to stop at a couple of gas stations on the way home and refill.

Now I'm still trying to decide if I should call my ins company, or get this repaired on my own, my deductible is $500, the window and installation is about $230-$250, tire about $150, but I don't know about the damage to the pillar, what do you guys think???? I was thinking about calling a paintless dent removal guy and see if he can fix it since it doesn't look that bad, I don't know any good body shops here in the Orlando area, can some1 recommend a good one so I can get a quote and have a better Idea of the total price of getting fixed on my own or letting the ins company rape me with the deductible and raised premiums that I'm sure would follow.

Sorry for the long post.

am really sorry to hear about this.

in the future, never leave any valuables in plain view- including ipods & gps, cuz u never know which ******* low life will break your window just for a quick grab.

u should probably just file a claim with insurance and get everything fixed.

Damn.

Well, if its going to be under 500, u should just fix it urself.

Sorry to see what has happen. Same thing happened to my dumbass bro b4. he left his GPS there overnight. next morning, windows broke. I never leave anything valuable in my car. well at least not visible. Sometimes I even open all my cup holders and crap just to show that "SEE, I HAVE NOTHING"

And if you have the receipt for the GPS, insurance can replace that too. I got my subs replaced by insurance when my MX-3 got broken into.

Maybe your policy covers theft too! I'd go with the insurance.

it really depends on the insurance company.

Some like Geico (I have), they will NOT cover damage unless you told them you have them installed in advance AND have one of their rep to visually inspect them.

To OP, Check and see if you have Full Glass coverage on your policy. If you do, it doesnt matter how much deductible u have. they will replace your glass.

You should tell them about the incident. Just in case.

Hmm I have a question, why is ur b-pillar damaged?

Sorry to hear about it, and I know the feeling, no too long ago my Kia got broken into in front of my house while I was out of town and my family was here at home, they took my 7' flip out tv that i had just purchase 2 month ago.

Now, I am assuming you have FULL COVER, check your policy and see if you have vandalism, usually (i am not 100% sure) the deductible is $250 and they would fix all the stuff that they mess up, and also ask if that would bring your insurance up (i don't think so, but ask). GL on everything man.

FYI, valuables dont have to be in plain site. I had a car broken into and pillaged through everything to find out there was nothing to take. people just do *******-ish acts for the hell of it...

sorry to hear about your car

And they stole your red and black leather interior and replaced it with the cloth interior!!! (shhh....just go with it)

Seriously though, sorry to hear about this. Talk to your insurance and see what they will do. Just because you call them and tell them your situation doesnt mean they will increase your rate.

GL

man, this sucks to see!
I would call your insurance company because often times you can be reimbursed for items such as your GPS if you can prove ownership. (receipt)

Any scratches on the paint due to the glass?

********.

This is why i leave nothing visible in my car ever. Not even a dime.

To a crack head, it's not their window, and it can be their dime.

Looks like he had tint from the way the glass held together.

Tint also doesn't prevent someone looking in the windshield.

I know of friends who have had cars broken into for leaving an iPod mount visible. Not even the iPod itself. just the mount.

yeah, the mount implies that there is an ipod in there somewhere. Happened to my buddy in his Xterra.

The best theft deterrent I've ever found for the east bay is an Oakland raiders sticker on your back windshield. You could park in the worst part of Oakland, leave a bag full of money in the car with the windows down and nobody would touch it if you have a raiders sticker on your car.

If you're parking in SF, you need a Giants sticker.
