is my car a shinka? help
Hello I just bought a used 2006 Rx-8, and the dealer said it was a Shinka when I bought it. However I didn't see the "Shinka" B-pillar applique but he said it was removed. After I bought it, I called Mazda Corporation to register the car, but when I asked if it's a Shinka, they said my VIN number didn't show up in their records as a Shinka.
Now, my car does have 18" bright finish alloy wheels and the in-dash 6-disc CD changer, but I can't test for the urethane foam injected suspension cross members, nor do I know what exactly the unique leather/Alcantara seating surfaces is supposed to look like and I don't know what to look for in the upgraded interior trim.
Can anyone help me? Thanks.

by the way, I think the dealership you bought it from just added in some of the "shinka" accessories, including the 6 disc, shinier wheels, and center consol which has the silver sides. Anyone can add these into a non-shinka.

Nope, Shinka was nothing more than an option package in 2006 and was available in colors besides Copper Red, and Black Cherry was not available in 2006.

it would also have the sirius sat radio; 6 dish changer and leather console lid cover.
colors it came in 06 BB; WWP; GG; CR
did the dealer advertise it as a shinka or have it on the window sticker or was it verbal?

I hate seeing this happen to good people. Take it from a Shinka owner, that is not Shinka. It's not even close! The center console should be piano black. Shinka rims are NOT chrome! There are other details but this is so far off it's not even worth it. Man I would get my money back. How much did you pay for it might I ask? Oh and what dealership is this? Please let the people know to beware of these people.

As alluded to above, if you have Shinka written on any advertising or sales paperwork then you did NOT buy the car if you decide soon that you do not want it. Misrepresentation is against the law for a reason, and you shold not have to obtain a lawyer to get a dealer to bend over backwards for you... again assuming something is in writing.
If you like the car, go juice them for some accessories, service and the like. $1500 in retail service/parts is pretty fair. If you were really looking for a Shinka, hand them the keys and have them get you one.

the windshield and front windows and side mirrors have a permanent coating that is effectively like a DAMN GOOD coat of Rain-X. i 've never applied rain-x(that i recall) and i barely ever use my wipers... water/rain beads off beautifully, its especially nice on the mirrors... most wouldnt notice it, but it much easier to see on wet nights with beaded water, than if the rain water sheeted across the mirror

nope, ur car may only be a gt. i would bring the car in for a refund only because they did not deliver a specific product. small dealerships are always getting sued for the way they draw suckers in on a deal they don't understand. you should always go to a mazda dealer for a catalog.
go back and hide an recorder in your pocket, catch him saying its a shiinka on false pretenses, demand ur money back or/and call the police explaining the false advertisement and just have it on simple police report. the cops may as well help you file a complaint to BBB (better business bureau) and from there just hire a lawyer. most lawyer will work for free on cases they know you'll win. so don't be afraid to call around.
i'll be surprised if they aren't crawling back to you after being dicks first "no, we had a sale...sale is final...you signed papers, see!" blah, blah, blah. just take actions and they will back down. i'm surprised either way when you decide to do something about you getting ripped off if you don't get any money from this.
i'm pissed, you just got a GT/touring??? with just some chrome wheels($0) and appearance pkg. and not only that, they probably charged you the highest pkg and marked it off on useless options like ur wheels, etc.
fyi- '07 vred gt 6spd. under $31k o.t.d. ALL fees included.
whats ur cost? kill someone if u paid $30k for an '06!

ur car looks nice btw, so if u got a good deal, don't trip. but if its genuinely a shiinka ur looking for...look into it. you can always return the car back sold as something else under false claims...
ONLY '06 shiinka's have alcantara(solid color) leather seats WITH perforations.
its in the '06 catalog.

Thanks for replying, everyone. I paid $27,000 for it. It’s a 2006 MT Rx-8 GT fully loaded with spoiler, fender strakes, appearance package, 18” chrome wheels, chrome tipped exhaust, DVD Navigation, sunroof, 6-CD changer and tinted windows. It’s got 16,000 miles on it, and I got it from the Big Two Toyota, Scion & Mitsubishi dealer in Chandler, AZ.
The Kelley Blue Book price for a fully loaded 2006 GT is $27,325 so I didn’t get totally ripped off, but it went from a good price for a Shinka to an ok price for a GT. Obviously I’m upset about it not being a Shinka. I talked to the dealer yesterday and he said according to his sources it’s a Shinka, but even if it wasn’t, I still got below Kelley Blue Book for a GT.
I live in Los Angeles (Thousand Oaks actually), but my friend and I drove to Chandler, Arizona last weekend to get this car, so actually going back to the dealer is not that convenient if I have to take into account the time and gas. It’s not anywhere on the paperwork that it’s a Shinka. This was just what he told me in person. I love my RX-8 so far, it’s just that it was shock to find out that it’s not a Shinka. What should I do?

Why go through all of this? Car Dealers are peopel too. YOui don't need to go through all of this work or headache. First of all, the tape recorder, NTM beign AFTER the fact, is inadmissable unless they know you are recording. Second of all, if you sit down and have a rational conversation, you will get what you want. If you attack, and bring out your claws, the dealership will do the same, and trust me, they have better lawyers. If it isn't in writign or ads, you will lose. If yoiu sit down and have a rational conversation, you will win. If it takes talking with the Dealer Principle to do so, they are the softest. They will fold so quick it's ridiculous. I've seen dealers fold two weeks after the fact, because I didn't like it. Owners hate bad word of Mouth. If yoiu have a good purchase experience, yoiu on average will tell a little under one person. If you have a bad experience, you will tell an average of 12 people.

ummm.. at that price, it may be worth your time to head back to Chandler. If that is a true sale price + taxes, tags, fees and add-ons, you were had. That's a $23-24k retail kind of car. It is NOT a Shinka, no matter what the dealer says. Without written proff you may struggle to get anywhwere.
So here is my suggestion.
You love the car. The dealer has on multiple occasions now misrepresented what he was selling. Without hard evidence, it is merely a matter of word, btu you love the car, and were happy with the payment terms.
So... Bring in a '06 brochure from your local Mazda dealer (they should still have some if they look), and sit down with the most important person you ccan finagle yourself to talk to at the store. Explain the verbal verification(+ re-verification) that this was a Shinka, and voice your disappointment with the misrepresntation. The dealer will do what he can to keep you in that car, while appeasing your distaste. You should be able to get $1k worth of free service, parts, accessories, something. From the sounds of it, that would be enough to make you happier with the transaction,a dn that is what they will be looking for. If they are not being too helpful, leave the keys with the manager, and tell them to expect a call form your lawyer. They will budge then.
My poiint is, you like the car, and were happy with the price. You are entitled to something, so you might as well get something. Be rational and calm, and try and explain that you'd hate to tarnish their image, when in reality it was just someone being confused. You'd far prefer to be able to explain their genrousity in helping you. These ar ethe kind of conversations that work to get your way. Going in screaming and yelling and visually upset will not.
