My clutch clicks

So ... my clutch clicks ... not always ... what I mean is:

When I have it pressed down, change gear, while slowing letting it go, it clicks midway. When I change gear while driving at normal speed, it's all fine. It's only when I am moving slowly, or stuck in traffic, then I have to let go my clutch slowly, it would make this "click" sound almost everytime when it mets midway.

My car is still under 3 yr general warranty, I just wanna see if anybody else on this board has experienced similar thing, or in my opinion, it should be covered under warranty. I am also worried that the dealer might acuse me of abusng the car to cause the problem, which I never did. Never raced ... redline regularly yes, but that's not considered abusing ... lol

I have used the search board, but not much help there.

Many thanks.

new shifter is not a solution to a clutch sound... now if he said it clicked in mid-shift that'd be a different story...
Though I will say the short shifter is nice and I reccommend it... I dont really know what is causing VB's clicking though, and dont believe that is his solution, sorry =(

Maybe its just the gear synchros? And because in the lower gears you need more control over the clutch, the car is just helping your style of driving and thats what's causing the clicking.

Mine has this occasional click as well. I had the same click on my Eclipse and just ignored it.

I get a click sometimes when I hit the clutch pedal, right as I am applying pressure. It's like the pedal is not fully seated on the bracket and is clicking into place. I'm somewhat worried that it's the clutch bracket going.

Which Eclipse did you have? I had a '97 GS-T and I noticed the same thing. I also ignored it, and the clutch was still fine when I traded it in last week at 83,5XX miles.

+1, its held on pretty crudely, its probably flexing a little and your hearing it sort of tweak itself.

Both my '8 and my Miata have "clicky" pedals.
I can't tell by feel if it is the pivot, bracket or the pedal cover itself.

When Niki drives, it doesn't do it, so "technique" is part of the issue as well.

Today was the first time i heard the "click noise" when releasing the clutch slowly.. after 90mile drive got off the highway and started going up hill. Stoped at the light then Car would not get out of neutral.. So does that mean my clutch went bad and need new one?

When I am releasing my clutch pedal slowly (getting in gear), the bracket/assembly pops and clicks a lot now. It used to be less noticable and happen only when everything was not warmed up. Should I be worried about a failing bracket?

Mine is clicking. If enough of us have it, Mazda will just say that it's normal.

Sad, but that's what I figured as well. I just hope I can limp it home if it does break...

Just an update on the matter guys.

I have dropped my car with Signature Mazda this morning. The service guy appeared nice, and willing to listen to all my little problems (including the clicking clutch of course) He has keyed them all in his computer, and will call me when he finds out what the problems are. However, this morning during my journey to Mazda from home, my clutch didn't click a single time, so bad timing.

Anyway, will keep you guys in the loop. Fingers crossed ...

Right swoope! That's exactly what just got replaced on mine, started as a squeak, became a click. Now...no more clicking or squeaking!

Did Mazda fix it before it broke? Or, what did you do to fix it?

My car is going in for a "creaking" or "squeaky" clutch on Thursday. It's not clicking yet, but there is a TSB on the clutch noise. Maybe it just depends on what part of the pedal/bracket is being stressed.

Nothing broke, just the noise. They "adjusted" it the first service visit I complained at, than added some lube the next 2 visits. Of course, nothing was fixed. After I complained they ordered a new pedal assembly, and upon going in for that they decided they should also get the clutch cut switch changed too...had to go back for that. ...took over a year to figure out!

I did get a CX7 free rental for my aggravation.
