When I bought my 04 WB brand new in 04 I was 20 and my full coverage from state farm was only $160 a month. I felt I was comin' out on the winning end considering all the other vehicles I had cost MUCH more to insure. 91 blazer ran me twice as much per month, 01 stratus was $250 a month, 03 eclipse gts was $210. So, I got the car I wanted for less insurance. I'd rather pay a higher car payment then throw the money at something you may or may not use during the life of the car. Now that I'm 25 I still have full coverage with the same company and only pay like $90 a month for it. So, good luck. Don't let insurance win.

Ya, I bought my Rx-8 in BC, but the original owner insured it through an Alberta company because he used to live here and made the occasional trip back and forth. Said it saved him lots of $$$.

I don't mean to be a dick but if you checked recently our dollar is almost at par. 1.00 CAD = .97 USD lol...

Thats just the way stuff works here its stupid... gas is no different.. even after exchange rates Americans save roughly a dollar a Gallon on gas

Just today I tried to get insurance on a crappy sunfire 1997 valued at 500 dollars(winter beater)...and heres what they told me,

"If you had the car in your name and you as driver with only 3rd party
liability of $1 million - premium $4459/yr. It's high because of your
age... (I'm 20, no tickets no accidents- in Ontario)

If we had the car in your parents name and you as (secondary) driver with only 3rd party
liability of $1 million - premium $3518/yr.

Lmao so much for a cheap winter beater to get me around.. I pay just slightly more than that for my 8.. whata joke.

Lol, I still have a decent paying job.

51K is alot to fork out, and 5K a year + a **** ton in mods.

Then there's the saving up for moving out, etc.

If I didn't have the car, I'd be out by now though

whats really stupid is if you put away that $400 every month instead of paying insurance. After a few years you'd have more then what the cars worth. aka You could fix anything wrong with your car no problem. or just replace it lol.

Yea well USAA just screwed me because I changed my policy a day after I got it because it wouldn't give me full coverage online and there call center was closed so instead of 250 a month my first month is going to cost me 400 in because of fees then after that it will be 250 again but still that 150 of fees wtf

This is what happens when you're insurance company is government run and they have to overcharge you so they can grossly overpay their employees!

That's it! I'm moving to California.

Your insurance company is charging WAY too much. My friend is paying that much with 2 DUIs and a few points on his record.

You nailed that one. What's the point of universal health care if you have to end up buying extended coverage anyways? Luckily for me I'm a strong, healthy young man.

Thats weird, are you active military or parents are retired military for you? I have USAA and I only pay about $60 a month for my 8. The day I bought it, I registered the car online and they just bumped it up a little. Im also 20 years old with a clean record. But I have 2 cars on my policy and only drive about 5k a year on the 8.

You should give them a call and talk to them about the issue you had, their customer service is great and should be able to work it out for you.

That is what they call freedom of choice plans so how would you like to take that?

op, have you looked into bicycle insurance plans? Don't worry here in US with our deficit soon to be owned by China we will be looking up rickshaw rates.

theres no way your insurance should cost that much....I pay 350 every 6 months for comprehensive....and if I step it up to collision with a 500 deductable its about 650 every six months.

Oh and I'm 21 with one speeding ticket and 1 wreck that I was at fault for
