I think the damage is worse than it looks. The rear of the boot (trunk for the Americans in the audiance) is quite deformed, and the lid wont close. But the bumper has popped back out, so it doesn't look as bad.
Just realised that the stainless steel rotor accent I imported from rotaryfx is gone. Will go back tonight and look for it.

Scott, sorry to hear about you rear end. Hope you have good insurance.
I hope the other car that hit you is stuffed.
Hope it will look good again soon.

Don't sweat it, I had the same thing happen when my car was new with only 700 miles on it. Saw some dumb-*** kid driving like an idiot and said to my self "that fool is going to hit someone" 3 minutes later I was that someone.
As it turns out all that bumper material is bolt on so no steel was bent, it was all replacement parts. The silver lining was he also bent up the exhaust system. I talked to the repair shop and was able to kick in an extra 100 or so for a MazdaSpeed Cat back exhaust system.

I was driving to work one morning at a high rate of speed and got off at my exit. I was waiting at the stop sign for traffic to clear and I get bumped in the rear end. I got out to look and the lady driving the Mercedes that hit me gets out of her car. I see no damage, so I tell her all is OK and we can go on our way. She then proceeds to tell me that driving so fast is dangerous. Boy, I could have ripped her a new one over that, but I just let it go.

She hit me square and pretty much dead centre.
Some looser had stopped in the centre (straight ahead) lane when the lights were green. Probably wanted to turn right, but was in the wrong lane. There was a line of 3 or 4 cars that I could see from the top of the hill. I didn't have the opportunity to change lanes, so I coasted to a stop behind them.
I was stopped for a good 5-10 seconds before I heard the screech of braking, and then the dreaded thump.
"I only looked down for a second" ........yeah right.

Claim accepted. Third party has admitted liability so no excess to pay
It's nice when your insurance company does what you pay them for! Less than 2 hours between me submitting the claim and it being accepted.

AMI.
I'm sure it would take longer if the other driver hadn't admitted liability. But New Zealand law is pretty clear that in a nose to tail situation the following driver is at fault for not leaving a big enough following distance. The fact that she was gazing at her navel is not really relevant.
