My imagination????
Hey all..this may be my imagination...
But, I got my car back from the dealer on thursday...(tranny issues) but, when I took delivery of the car..they advised me that the battery had run down and they had to jump it. Someone at the dealer accidently hit the trunk release on the remote and left it opean and that ran the battery down.. BUT.... the next day, I was in driving home from work and I was in some trafic that I needed to get past to get my exit to get on the highway..and I just jammed on the gas, and I noticed my car excelerated much much faster than usual..
Got it on the highway..where I can opean it up more..and I noticed better pick up shifting from 3rd to fourth and even up to 5th..and downshifting from 5th to 4th resulted in much faster excerlation than before...
So, I am wondeing if the dealer reflashed my ECU while it was there and did not tell me..or when the battery drained down did it reset the ECU to the ORGINAL factory settings??
PLEASE SOUND OFF ON THIS!

Rever,
Wierd huh? As for comments:
1. Call the dealer and ask (about the reflash and the reset)! I can't see you being shy about this. However, I have never heard of a computer based system that does not do a "reset" as part of a firmware upgrade. Not to say that a reflash with no reset is not possible, just that there are too many possible states for the reflash to deal with if it doesn't do the reset.
2. I believe (from other threads) that the ECU "learns" your driving habits and that this is reset when the ECU is deprived of battery power. This may account for the change you experienced. I have never fully understood what the ECU "learns", how long it remembers and why it even does this.
3. Another consideration is that your did get you car back on Good Friday ....

Responce to to number 3...HAHAAAHAHA!
Responce to number 2..Dunno either...I know the drive by wire is always calculating optimal throttle under excelleration..and the CAM network in the RX8 monitors next to everything...
Responce to number 1..I am not the one for ECU questions either..but I heard that you can reset the ECU by draining the battery...yes..or no.. I will leave that up to the ECU masters on the forum...
Either way..I have to call them on Monday..so I will ask at that time.

Do you know if you had the "L" flash before you took it?
If you didn't (or don't know if you did) you can check it by doing the 20 brake tap thing. That will confirm the "L" flash (or newer)
