my last post...
well it's been a wonderful affair, but the time has come to end my relationship. i traded the 8 in two weeks ago for a more practical family vehicle...a toyota sienna minivan. Yes my heart aches. In fact the whole ordeal put me into a depression and only now have i been able to give my farewell. Though i have faith that someday things will be better again...I know it will never be the same. So with my last words I give a bit of advice. Love your 8, cherish it, dream about it, drive it like it's meant to be driven. Don't ever let anyone come between you and the car you love. ---(are there any good toyota sienna forums?)

Ha! I have both! My wife has had a Sienna for 2 years. It's OK, but couldn't replace my 8.
I traded in my STi for an Accord in a moment of sheer stupidity thinking that I was doing the right thing as a family guy. When my wife found out, she said "you're an idiot!" I suffered through the slush-box v6 for about 9 months before coming to my senses and getting the 8. Overall, I am much happier now than I was with the STi.

Good luck with the Minivan........and good advice, def cherish the 8 and drive it like its meant to be driven, hard! haha. I dont understand though, do you have more than 2 kids?? Part of my reasoning for getting the 8 was that if i ever have kids, i can still keep it cause of the usable backseat haha, although i guess if you need to put a stroller in, than the 8 wouldn't be an exact fit. In any event, what color is your sienna, hopefully not beige! haha...

Sooo unbelievable!! I went over to that forum expecting to see threads discussing topics like the most efficient way to ferry the kids around town or how to increase your mpg. But drag racing your Sienna?!?!? What has the world come to these days??
Although one poster made a good point about being more fun to drive slow cars fast than fast cars slow. I had a blast in my previous 85hp RWD '89 Mazda B2200 truck. You could rev that thing's heart out and still just be going with the flow of traffic.

wow. to all of this . . . just . . . wow.
I'm not sure what is more upsetting - the concept of trading the 8 for a minivan (any minivan, really) or the fact that there is a forum for the sienna . . .
I think something inside my head just snapped a little . . .
and I may have thrown up a little in my mouth.
crossfire pwned by the sienna - roflmao
GL w/the Sienna.

dont know you, and never heard from you but bye!
you got to do what you got to do for your family, i know i'll have to one day. but a sienna isnt all that bad. i would of dont a mazda 5, or protege 5 just because i can mod them. haha

Hey..knock it off guys..nothing wrong with sacrificing for the family..he'll just get a more better and an improved 8 down the road..*knocks on wood*
Personally, I like the Nissan Quest (2005-2006 series) vs. the other minivans..granted, it might have a bad reputation for quality/performance vs. others, but the styling and everything else is so much more unique than the bland box. If I have time, I'll take a snapshot of my wife's Nordic White Pearl with running boards (not lighted..damn you Nissan for making the change!!!)...kewl minivan IMHO..yes, it is a minivan, but at least it has curves, etc...

I understand your pain. Back in the late '80's I owned a nice '85 RX-7 and I had to sell it due to financial pressures and a growing family. I couldn't even replace it with a "practical" car immediately, so I had to drive our company shop van, which was a '73 Dodge Tradesman 200. Gawd, what a pig! My kids are now grown, educated and married. And I had to wait 18 years to get another rotary, but man, it was worth the wait!
