My lease goes back this week, the dealer has scheduled to review the interior and exterior of the vehicle " wear and tear ". I have kept the rx8 in amazing condition , it only has 23000km when I could have returned it with 65000km full detail , wax , shampoo every 6 months etc.. So I don't think thay there is anything I will end up being charged with, even the tires have 70% rubber left on them..

Just curious, any horror storys when getting your bill after the return lease inspection... for damages they said did not go under " normal wear and tear"

My last car was a LEXUS IS300 and they provided me with a $600 bill for tiny dings they found on the car. I was shocked

 

I dont know. I'm not in a lease. I'm in for the long run. But let us know how it all turns out for those of us that are in a lease.

$600 for tiny dings wtf... damn thats wow.. I havent heard any horror stories and from the sounds of it you babied your car. I wouldnt worry to much are you on good terms with your service dept? I'm sure that could help in your favor if your that worried. Good luck and whats your next car going to be since it seems your not going to be buying the car?

 

Not sure whats funny, I like short term month leases as I get bored of my cars very quick,

My my last 3 cars have been G35C , IS300 & RX8 all of which I have not mind giving back when the lease came do.

I am picking up a 2006 335c BMW Friday with M Package , This time I had to go 36 month lease to keep the payments decent!

The RX8 was great....

The final dealer inspection at the end of the lease is sort of hit and miss. Depending on how picky the dealer is, you can end up with some or no surprises. Don't be too surprised if they stick you for costs related to dings and scratches - the car basically has to be returned to them in immediately resellable condition, so if you can feel the paint damage or it won't buff out, they'll likely want money for it.

 

You should bring a camera next time you reutrn your lease. I've heard too many stories of people getting billed for things that they don't remember was there. And as for the laugh about it being a least, I find nothing funny in it. If you look at the 8s in the for sale forum you'll know you got off really easy.

 

Do a forum member a favor and resell it at residual value + commish...

 

Actually, even if you want to buy the lease made a lot of sense. Mazda was offering an extra $2K discount if you took a lease with about $500 in fees so you ended up $1500 ahead, the interest rate on the lease was lower than what my money makes in a savings account, you get the option to get out of the car if it turns out to be a problem, and you get a second chance to haggle the price down when you go to buy it out at the end of the lease.

 

Be sure to do the walk around with the dealer when you return it. Have them sign off on the condition before you leave so there are no surpises later down the road.
