My circle of friends all say they're "car guys" yet they all bought on horsepower and magazine stats. Only one had any real race experience, but all others can quote you their 0-60/1/4 mile stats. I'm the biggest gearhead of all of 'em yet I bought the least powerful car, which they all enjoy ribbing me on. Still, none of the smartasses would accompany me to a trackday.

Even enthusiasts, most anyways, are stupid consumers first, driving enthusiasts second.

I understand the "feel" element. I dumped my BMW 540i (M package) and picked up an '07 S2000. I've never looked back since. It's all preference. Herc owned a RX-8 very early like myself. I totally know where he is coming from!

AN M3 won't beat a tubo'd RX8.

If you know anything about racing and not the want a bee cones in a parking lot you would know that HP and speed play a big part.

If you can't get down the straight away fast enough you can't pull those G's

If you don't have the torqe you can't pull out of the corners.

If the 8 sucked then why do they race it in GT?

Hell the only reason why they don't win every race is due to low HP and torque.
