IF that's the finish that comes on the gloss/piano black kit then I am glad I got the flat black kit (which I am very happy with, btw).

Your shift boot is baller, son. I need to get one of those myself I guess.

Wow, that's a lot cooler than I thought it would be. What kind of price range are we looking at?

175 bucks for the metra 2din kit, and $500-750 for a nice 2din dvd/nav/etc deck. I went a few hundred more for 2 rear seat tv screens, a backup camera, and I'm about to throw in a couple subs and an amp.

very nice installs guys, so i assume these are the most recent batches from Metra, and all the bugs from the early releases have been worked out?

Actually no, most of the ones I have seen sold still have the original software. Mine was marketed as having updated software but it turns out to still have the same glitches as the original...so it is either an early patch or the seller just lied or was misinformed.

The standard glitches are a very fast clock (gains 30 minutes per week) and a flickering display every few hours/days (this has been minimal with my unit).

IT tells you in the instruction manual...it's all done via the a/c and vent buttons.

I suggest You to add a label-RX-8 on the marked place and then it would have even better look.

That would be the hazard lights button not an emblem

yea i like the gloss it looks better in peron but w/ the smudges and flash it makes it kinda look a little crappy in the pictures, ill try to get better pics of it later, but it does look real nice in person. N yes mine is the up to date metra kit, i had not a single problem, and i only paid 400 shipped for my kenwood dnx5120 normal they are around 800 i think but i bought a b stock one and extended warrenty off of ebay, and let me say its great looks brand new cant tell a difference. came packaged like new in box, work flawlessly. you would never know it was a b stock unless i tell you like now... lol

From what it looks like in the picture, the gloss isn't as mirror-shiny as stock. I personally like the stock look, so unless it had the same deep mirror gloss, I'd go flat.

Thanks for the pics, guys. Helps illustrate the options and now I don't need to read through that insanely long thread to find out about the initial problems.

I like the red-stitched shift boot a lot.
