monetarily its fine.

its the toll on the environment. i didnt buy a prius because it just sucked too much. but this thing looks awesome. 0-60 in 11 seconds is going to suck though.

also, it has really good safety structures.

maybe by 2010 all standard cars will be 0-60 in 10 seconds? and the rx8 will be fastest

It is a Motorcycle.
So you need to wear a helmet while driving it. (CA Requires Helmets)
But if they made it, All the tree huggers would promote it.

WTF? Kersh, you've had your RX-8 for 6 months. What's with the huge turnaround?

You knew about the gas mileage of the 8 when you bought it. There are plenty of other hybrids and fuel efficient vehicles out there.

This car didn't strike me as my cup of tea, but I did think that the 180 degree cameras were a neat idea.

I am all for these efficient vehicles, would be a great "up yours" to the oil companies if they were to become mainstream.

Could you imagine getting into a wreck in that thing? A simple 15-20 mph collision with a "normal" vehicle would crumple that thing.

I hate people like you. Here we are in New England with cold, icy weather, and all we have to do is all drive RX-8s and BAM! the world warms up (according to Gore) and the weather is nice and sunny all year long!

LOL at electricity juice!

But I think you need to read the whole thing, taken from the link

The Aptera Typ-1 is available in two models:

All Electric - This model is powered exclusively with batteries and will get someone around town for approximately 120 miles depending on driving conditions. At night, simply plug the Aptera into any standard 110-volt outlet, and in just a few hours, the vehicle will be fully charged and ready for another 120 miles.

Plug-In Hybrid - The Aptera hybrid is powered by an electric drive train but is also assisted by a fuel-efficient gasoline-powered generator, which stretches the range considerably. In typical driving, the hybrid Aptera may achieve over 300 miles per gallon, a range far beyond any other passenger vehicle available today.
