Unhappy My radio has issues any ideas?

when i play cd's my radio skips and sounds weird...
might there be a problem with the radio or do i need to clean the "Eye"/ cd reader?
does anyone have any ideas of what might be wrong?

More details. This happens with several different CDs? Happens while driving and while stopped? Generally skipping is related to a dirty lens like you mentioned, but mine skips too if I hit a serious enough bump/pothole. How often does it happen?
