My rotary life comming to a sad ending? :(
So as some of you may know i just recently discovered rust in my car and i took it to a shop and today to the mazda delaer...
Before showing the rust to the people at the dealer i was talking to the rotary tech and long story made short! 3 or 4 weeks ago when adding oil to my car i saw this greenish looking thing on top of my engine on the right side by the coils. Really weird looking **** not gonna lie ! its about 2 centimeres long and it looked dry, it kinda looked like green dust collected on that spot, anyways i never bother to ask here what that was cuz first its impossible to describe and almost impossible to take a picture!! The rotary tech said "it was antifreeze leaking from an "O" ring in between the rotors" or something like that, yeah antifreeze inside the engine????? i never read anything like that here and tech said i need a new engine. The thing is that i bought this car used about 7 months ago and i only have records since then, the dealer has lots of records too but not all of them so im guessing the retarded first owner didnt take it to the dealer for oil changes so i think my days with a rotary engine are soon to be over . The car has no mechanical problems at all and it runs "perfect" but i dont know how this leak is gonna affect that...I know its my fault for not asking the dealer where i bought it from for more recods

It doesn't need to be serviced at the dealer, it just needs to be serviced, period. Moreover, based on some cases, you're not responsible for the previous owner's mistakes. Wait for them to actually turn you down for a replacement before giving up

It is your own duty to make sure that what you're buying still is under warranty and had the maintenance done. All this coupled with the good faith BS

No sorry i didnt really specify on my first post. They emailed mazda canada today to see if the warranty applies due to some missing records. Im pretty sure they wont allow me to use the warranty on the engine

What about the antifreeze leak? did anyone of you read or experienced anything like that before? how bad or dangerours could it be? and as i said before its a super tiny leak

No need to submit yourself to guilt. We can only hope for the best to happen for you.
...But still be optimistic, nevertheless!

A tiny leak may not be a huge problem but it's still a leak that I wouldn't want. Your engine may fail and that would be nasty.
Contact mazmart here to get a quote for an engine, i'm sure you won't be disappointed and may be a rotary owner for much longer on your 2nd unit

Unless the performance is actually affected and you notice an actual loss of coolant in the reservoir, I'd just forget about it and keep driving it.
It is likely the dried-up coolant is the result of a leaking throttle body connection.
It might be the result of a past overheating, but unless it actually drives like crap, who cares?

and thats the picture... its really hard to see the greenish part but its on the far left. Also you can see some metal areas that look wet on the right but they are dry. any ideas?

When the temperature gets closer to freezing, take it to a car wash with a pressure hose and clean up the engine. Then run it for a while to see if it reappears, keeping a watch on the coolant level. You may get lucky and it will be the coolant lines that run through the throttle body.

Yeah, if you have any significant amount of coolant leaking into your engine then you would probably be noticing more symptoms than just having a layer of green build-up. Just keep driving it for now, and don't worry too much about it unless your car starts having more symptoms...
Yes, do this.... Even if you do have a coolant leak into the engine, if you haven't had to add any yet then at this point it seems like it is small enough that you can probably keep driving on it for a while. Get a quote from Mazmart and maybe start setting some cash aside in case you actually do have a problem. Replacing the engine would be a whole lot cheaper than giving up completely and replacing the car!
But it could wind up not being a real big problem... We all know some of Mazda's techs make a decent amount of mistakes. I wouldn't start worrying until you have some other reason to think that your coolant is getting into your engine.

I got my 8 in September and I took her for a compression check about a month ago. Test results said I needed a new engine, which Mazda NA approved with virtually no maintenance history apart from 1 oil change and a plugs/coils/wires change at the dealer. New engine just arrived and I'm dropping the 8 off on Monday.
I think you'll be fine... but let us know what happens! Good luck!

I guess im leaving the dreaming of a rotary owner right now! Mazda called me this morning and im getting a new engine for free next week i cant even believe it, the dealer said mazda NA didnt even ask for any records Now is time to do some research on this engine since im guessing its just another rebuild engine.

Good to hear as I am in a similar boat with an '04. Compression check was just below spec but the dealership wants me to spend $650 for them to replace the coils, wires, and plugs. I'm doing it myself and hope it helps the hard start when warm problem but I'm guessing it won't. I plan to take it back to the dealership after and nicely ask for more options. Your experience gives me some hope as I'm also a second owner with very little records.
