When Mazda got their "steam car" reputation and started replacing engines like crazy, THAT
really hurt them deep. In some circles, mazda had the reputation of having only a "50,000 mile engine" I love the engine and the car but why would anyone buy one new at near MSRP when you lose 40% in only a year or two? I hate to say it but buying used is the only way to go 'cause the depreciation hit is so friggin hard to swallow.

From what I've read is that they have to leave the old engine "as is" and send the old engine back to Mazda right away in order to get credit.

In this market. especially in N.A., where people always "look for" high hp spec rather than overall balance. so in the end, no one wants this car.
Is that high? I dont know. but I can tell you guys one thing, all cars have engine problems. Rotary or not.
Did I mention that Nissan actually have to replace lots of 04 2.5 engines cuz of bad CAT ? check it on Altima forum. Does that mean Altima's 2.5 suck ? nope. **** just happens.

All above....SO true : If it's mechanical...it will break. All engines have problems no doubt. I think the mazda wankel, because it is a one of a kind and had some bad press in the past, is under a higher magnification microscope. I really wonder how many dealers are educating new owners about the differences in the engine. The need for adequate warm up...etc. I have known some drivers in the past that had no appreciation for machinery, and they could ruin anything given enough time.
I still want this car....jut not at $28-32000 new to sell it 2 years later for $17-18,000

My bro's got his Altima SER on Nov 2004. ITs a 05 model. and he got it for 29K(rip off , didnt know actual price back then)
Now hes trying to get rid of it. Market price is about 18~19ish, he still thinking.
I got my 8 about 8 months later than my bro's car, and its going for about 20, not too bad I guess.
Car will always be the WORST investment(if you even want to count it as investment), You loose a few grand just by signing the new title
