And don't let other people go get your car, have them escort you back to where it is located and get it yourself.

My friend who has a 350z track that’s supercharged and putting out over 400whp, when he took his car to the dealer for some recall thing, he saw the workers there and they were all about 21 years old and they were saying "wow that’s sweet, I would love to take that car and race it around" and that scared him so much that he stayed there for just under 8 hours to make sure that they didn’t take his car for any "joy rides"
They kept saying you don't have to stay, and don't worry. But there was no way that he was going to leave his car.

wow i would be so mad if this happened to me. at least they acknowledged that they were at fault and are making amends. that is good and all, but personally i don't think it should happen to begin with.

I would have done the same thing.
I have heard that super cars have vallet keys that limit the cars power output. It might be a good idea to make something like that for all cars especialy ours!

Your key that you got with the car is a reduced horsepower key. :D

They scratched one of my wheels last time I was in for the recall. But you know what? I did not even mention it to the service manager. I know what they are going to say and I am not going to spend my time to argue with them. It's not a serious damage and I would rather eat it. Even if they admit the mistake and agree to repair it, there is much better chance for them to screw up something else. In short, I would not leave my car any longer than necessary in their facility.

I just wanted to get the hell outta there so I accepted it as it was, but I think I will take it to my own ding doctor and have him fix the blemish.

The thing that pissed off was the service manager which I had complemented in my earlier post, had said that I brought in the car already damaged. That there was no way this could of happened in his facility. That their inspection guy must have missed the dent and not logged it in on is paperwork. This was ridiculous. I am a proud obsessive compulsive RX8 owner and know the car inside and out. If I am ever forced to go back to that dealership service center I will be taking pictures of the car under witness.

I'm just glad to have my car back!

Ya, the dealer blows. I took mine in today for heat shield and ball joint recalls. When I came back I checked it over. All flawless. I felt pretty good about it. I jump in it and drove back to work. As I get out I run my hand along the outer part of the door. Low and behold it was all scuffed up. There were little bits of rock up under the black decal that was scrapped off. Some one opened it up and let the door hit the brick wall along the service bay. At least no one can see. Just ticks me off.

One of the ECU tuners that a lot of people use on the WRX has a valet fuel map that shuts the turbo off, and keeps the car under 3,800 RPM's. If they ever get around to selling a tuner that hooks to the RX-8's diagnostic port, something like this could be done. However, using it when you take the car to the dealership might not be such a good idea, as it will likely lead to loss of your warranty.
