My story of warranty denial by Mazda.

My story of warranty denial by Mazda.
Well its a long story so here it goes.
Back in March of '06 I went to the Mazda dealership on Florida Ave. in Tampa. Mario was the service manager at the time. I had made an appoitement for the CEL being on. I pulled up and signed in and everything and Mario took a look at the car. All I have on it was the Greddy SP2 exhaust, AEM Cold Air Intake, Carbon Fiberhood, and the complete set of the Veilside body kit. He lifted up the hood and said, "Well looks like you voided your warranty." Apparently the CAI and the exhaust voided my warranty. I argued with him for hours, but it didn't work. So I just left and went to the dealer on Kennedy Blvd next to the University of Tampa (which is closed now) and they fixed my car under warranty. Not to long later I was at home about to go to class and the car wouldn't start. I had to have it towed to the Mazda dealer on Kennedy Blvd. Once it got there they said it need a upgraded starter, new spark plugs, and a couple other things I don't remember. Well then he told me that my car was on the branded list. My parents were PISSED! It cost my dad over 1,200 bucks to get it fixed. And I still didn't have my warranty back. After this happened I moved up to UCF and after I drove long distance on the highway or just idling the car would just die, literally. I couldn't take it to the Mazda dealer because I didn't have my warranty and it would just cost more money to fix so I just let this problem continue. Yeah I know it was a bad idea, but I did it anyways. Well just recently almost to the date of my last "flooding" the car wouldn't start again. My parents didn't feel like paying for it again so my dad just gave up and my car sat in the residence parking for about a month. My mom was determined to get my warranty back because I told her its should have never been voided in the first place. We called Mazda North America and they said that I need to put the car back to completely stock and take it to a Mazda dealership and they would have a warranty representative look at it and asses the situation. Well I had my car towed again, but this time to East Mazda on 436 in Orlando. The service manager was really nice and helpfully, forgot his name though. I told him my warranty situation and he agreed with me that it was bullshit. He said I wouldn't have to take off my body kit and all I would have to put on was the stock air filter and exhaust. My drove to Orlando to deliver the parts to him because I kept them all at home and he put those stock parts back on. He also fixed the car to get it up and running for 400 bucks. The warranty guy who came out to look at my car said he would need to talk to Mario first, so I still didn't have my warranty. So about a month ago, while I was back in Tampa for summer vacation. my twin brother and I (who kinda share the car but I consider it mine, lol) were driving and the car just died. We were on Sheldon Rd. and Waters Ave next to the **** plant. The car wouldn't start so lucky we were next to a Goodyear center and we pushed it to them. They said if they can find the problem it would be 90 bucks, but if they couldn't it would be free of charge. I told them that they would never find the problem and they never did. I had to have my car towed again to the Mazda dealer on Florida Ave.. I didn't want to go there because I knew Mario would be their and I swear I was going to inflict some pain on that *******. Well Mario moved to a different Mazda dealer on the East coast, and I got my warranty back! So they fixed the problem, which was some part was loose on the car from when they fixed it in Orlando and fell on the belt and shorted out, under warranty. Sorry for that being long but you need to know the whole story.

Next time, show them this...
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/.../warranty.shtm
If they cant prove that your aftermarket parts were the cause of the problem, then they have to honor your warranty.

Wow. I can't believe I read the whole thing.
That's good news. I don't understand how these mechanics can give you such a hard time on basic mods. What does it matter to them? They're going to get paid by Mazda for their time anyway right?

I dealt with Mario multiple times. He has always fixed anything I needed fro free. I received a new air dam for free on my first visit. He was always a nice guy. He moved to Mazda at Wesley Chapel in Pasco. He did my engine recall and was very good. His staff is excellent and never has given me any issues. Sorry for the hassle you had. That **** plant does stink though. Bad place to stall.

Thanks, the paragraphs help a bit.
In the future, as a courtesy to others, consider a more descriptive title for threads. "My complete story. MUST READ!!" sounds like something absolutely anyone who owns an 8 will want to read—right now! It's not. While it's of some interest to people who've modded their cars and/or have issues with their dealers, it's not really a subject of universal appeal. Nothing personal, but had I known what it's about, I wouldn't have bothered to open it and then wade through all those words.

dealerships technicians face alot of kids these days with sports car that are modded and demand warranty work. Most of these kids who by themselves are immature and sometimes got their car from their parents generally are not very good at carrying themselves in a win-win situation. Put yourself in the service manager's shoes who faces these whining kids with their cars and I am sure you will react the sameway.
So be polite, be smart, be mature and work with the dealerships. I've had various modded cars which I owned and have never had warranty issues.
Judging from your posting approach, there may be the "other-side" of the story to consider.

The argument of teens having a nice car is rediculous. I'm 19 right now and got my 8 when I was 17 (about a week before my 18th birthday). It's the first car that I've owned and I'm glad I have it and appreciate having it as well. I fail to see a reason why kids shouldnt have a nice car as long as they have the responsibility that should go with it. He didnt show any irresponsibiltiy, just car troubles and his experiences with the dealerships.
To stay on topic, it sucks that you've had such a bad experience... I have aftermarket stuff and havnt had issues with my dealership yet. Hopefully you have better luck in the future.

He never said his parents paid for the car, though it can be assumed I guess. He only said his parents paid for repairs. It's not only his car, it's shared as he says, even if he calls it his own.

**** all of you who are jealous because me, being 18, has the same car that you all have because my parents got it for me and my twin bro to SHARE. And you don't even know half the story with my parents who have made my life a living HELL.
My dad was a work freak and I barely even knew him the first ten year of my life and my mom tried to raise 3 kids, all three within one year of each other, and had to help my dad with his business.
I have probably been then threw more family problems than all of you show shut the **** up. My parents are in a serious divorce battle right now that has basically ruined my college experience and my life. All the **** me and my twin bro have gotten from them we desevre everything we get.
PLUS, I worked for my dad for 2 summers, while i was 16 and 17, shoveling dirt in Florida's horrific heat for my dads construction company. I have probably done more work than you behind the desk ***** workers out their.
PLUS, my brother and I share the car so and we would rather have a $30,000 car than both have a $15,000 car each, we get $15,000 because thats what my dad paid for for my sisters mustang.
I am not a whinny little 18. I am problem more grown up then all of you fagots. I am greatfull and appreciative for everything I have, so **** you 8 Maniac.I don't treat my car like **** and all these problems that I have had is the ******* cars falt. Its not my fault Mazda made a piece of ***** for the '04's.
So all of you who jump to a conclusion and just think my parents just hand me my **** you need to stop. I have earned and worked for everything that I have gotten so shut the **** up! Damn.

Your gonna do really well when you finally get out into the real world...
You'll grow up when you learn to stop blaming others and taking advantage of people because you think the world owes you something.

I smell a thread closure due to some major anger management problems. Though didn't everyone feel like this when they were 18?? Parents make their life hell/they just don't understand.
But yeah it's more rewarding to actually purchase your own car than for someone to give it to you. I mean I was given the use of cars by my parents. But none of them felt like mine until I bought my own (my 8).
